I propose a model building challenge

@Chulvis posted this photo last night onto Facebook:

Lagunitas Grocery - San Geronimo Valley - Marin County - May 14th 2015.

Honestly, I was looking at this on my phone and thought is was a model at first.  I would like to propose a challenge to build this little building.  Since we only have one photo, feel free to use a generous modeler's license.

I was going to start with the DPM 51100 Cricket's Saloon Kit.  I don't mind doing the artwork and posting it for folks to use.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

First rule of little grocery building club: don't talk about grocery building club. :tommann:

I'm not sure of the rules yet, or even if we need them.

John's street view photo makes the building look completely different, 'eh?  Chuck's photo looks like a two story DPM kit that could be located anywhere in the US. Street view facade looks like a trendy hip CA place.

I finished artwork for the large sign on the side, which apparently was painted by a well-known sign painter in the area. I still plan to use Crickets Saloon, and patched one of the side windows.

So it's not a contest just an exercise?

Every place is trendy and/or hip out here.

When can we see the artwork? I have a sneaky little scheme of my own but I wanted to see what you're up to.

Isn't Cricket's Saloon a two-story structure? Are you going to single-story it?

Geez I ask a lot of questions...

I am thinking "Erik's Emporium" taken down to 1 floor with the front façade created above would work well.
to me it is the closest to windows and door on front, but there again is need to changing the style and design.
hmmmm.....

I have a draft of the artwork and printed it out.  It needs further tweaking but sizing appears to be fine.

This is on my laser, so it isn't as nice as it will look on my Epson r1800.

Yes, I know I'm using the two story building, because a) I have it and it was already built and b) I actually thought the real thing was two stories at first! Again, I'm trying to capture the feel and mood of the original photo (taken by @Chulvis).

Somebody made a kit of a similar structure, I think it was tagged as a "land office" or something similar.  Was RLW?
