I'm pleased to announce our second run of these popular cars!  Coming in six new schemes - 24 numbers total - these models will find a place on layouts from the late 1950's to the present.

Unfortunately, the GN car is only good for 1964-1968.  As far as I can find, the railroad added bulkheads to all of them in 1968, and apparently repainted all of the cars Big Sky Blue.  They also had other series that came with factory bulkheads, painted Glacier Green, so a version with bulkheads would be much appreciated.

What's the word on a second Dry-Flo run?  I saw Tangent looking for information on the CGW cars.  I hope they make the cut.

Working on them, Jason.  Hope to make an announcement later this year...

Okay, I'll look forward to that.

Great work on the flat cars but they are begging for a wood deck.  Am I going to be able to remove the plastic deck without too much force (in the past I'd just go for it, but I'm breaking too many things on recent releases).

Craig, it probably has been pointed out before now, but the road numbers for the Great Northern flats are "160" 005, not "16" 005 - the 16xxx would have been boxcars I believe.

It's correct on the flier and on the website.  It looks like just that banner image is wrong.

The January '69 ORER still lists the cars without bulkheads.

Jason:  OK, that should trump books, even by respected authors.  I couldn't find any pictures of this series online.  The only picture I can find without the bulkhead is in "Lines East" by Patrick C. Doran, and that's the builder's photo.  On the other hand, all of the others are post-merger.  So, they apparently had the bulkheads by March of 1970.

Given the conflicting info, I probably won't buy one for my BN, but a GN modeler should be able to use them.  They are nice looking cars.

FWIW, the July 1980 ORER  still lists one car #160001 at 60'  inside length  (the bulkheads are listed as 55') under GN reporting marks.

I wonder if the BN took the bulkheads off of that one?  A copy of the "AAR Equipment Register" in Four Ways West's "Equipment Pictorial Vol 2" shows all as 55' 5" in October 1969, but those bulkheads were designed to be added or removed easily.  Orr, maybe, the GN didn't put a bulkhead on one car, but forgot to list it separately.  We'll probably never know after this long.

This is turning out to be a very confused car series.  Usually the GN isn't that bad, as they seemed to renumber cars when they were modified.  Of course, there was their one series of 40 ft PS-1 boxcars, which were renumbered, then the old numbers used for a different group of cars, themselves rebuilt and renumbered from an earlier series.  We discussed those thoroughly a while back.

Mark:  They are nice cars, aren't they?  I also have one of the Wabash, even though it is a heavily weathered survivor by 1974.
