Fun railcam catch from last Saturday:



That's the entire train.

150 MPH on the Acela Express last Monday from a speedometer app on my ipad.  Unfortunately, this speed was achieved only twice for total time of less than 1 minute.  Once between Boston and Providence, and once south of Providence.  Exciting while it lasted.  Hard to imaging what true high speed rail is like.

Tiny print.  Thank you for your patient response.   I work near the Siemens plant in Charlotte, NC where gas turbines are made.   They've got enough of those sitting out back for maybe six more trains like that.  They also have a red Norfolk Southern extended vision caboose on the property right now.   It is hooked to a another extended vision caboose painted in a New York Central jade green kind of color.  I can't get close enough to identify the possible previous owners of either as there trees and fences in the way and nothing is close to the road right now.

   an Extended Vision NS caboose could be ex-Reading if they got some in the CR Split ?
   or possibly ex-ITC ?
   shouldn't be ex-Southern or N&W.
   the Jade caboose may be ex-Brown-Boveri ?
  saw one once going south over the James River near Main Street Station,it was 2 toned,
  but that was also over 20+ years ago.
   just guessin' here ??

Interesting! The railcam has been recording passing traffic 24/7 for the past six months, and this is the first one of these we've seen. Any idea where it's going? It would certainly make sense for NS to send it this way since their Louisville-STL (ex-SOU) line and then the STL-KC (ex-Wabash) line are lesser-trafficked routes more forgiving for specialty moves.
