Shapeways announced today that they will begin offering Extreme High Definition parts on their ProJet-printed products, and discontinuing the High-Definition option. As they normally do, they have changed the designations to disguise the process being utilized. They are calling the new process FXD (for Frosted eXtreme Definition I'm assuming). While the FD (or HD using ProJet terminology) option is being discontinued, the FUD (UHD) remains an option. The FXD (XHD) is twice the resolution of FUD, which is in turn twice the resolution of FD.
Also, they are renaming the "Detail" plastics as "Acrylic" — "White Detail" will now be known as "White Acrylic", "Black Detail" as "Black Acrylic", etcetera.
