I've checked the Athearn site and it appears they're doing HO and N NP and SP&S Z-8 Challengers.

Dear god no. My wallet can't handle that....

They're due in June of 2016. You have over a year to save up.

Hmm... I could save up
only a couple hundred
termites in one year...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

Looking at the Road numbers they are doing the more "modern" z-8 Challengers.... Awesome!

I am really stoked to see this. A bit spendy, but 1/2 the cost of my brass model with sound installation. I see that they include the oil tender so am thinking it will be a true SP&S prototype.

Thank you Athearn!

I don't know if anyone is interested and it may be too late but Kim Saign (one of the moderators) is selling 3 GHQ Z kits on the NScaleYardSale Yahoo group.

Quote from: Kim Saign
I have 3 of the GHQ conversion kits for the NP 4-6-6-4 Challenger. GHQ stock# 55012.  This is just the GHQ kit. No mechanism included. The original MSRP was $149.99. I'll sell them for 50% off at $75 each plus $5 shipping in the US. If you buy all 3 you can have them for $200 with free shipping in the US.

NScaleYardSale@yahoogroups.com

There have been no replies as of yet indicating they have been sold.

Athearn has announced that they will be doing NP & SP&S challengers. Web photos are of real prototype locos which have vestibule cabs and centipede tenders. Will they really tool up an all new boiler and cab to go with their existing tender? If this is true I' am in for at least one of the two Northern Pacific locos announced. I do not want to get stuck reserving one only to find out it is a Union Pacific locomotive lettered and numbered for NP. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

I wouldn't sell your z-6 since these look to be the z-8.....very different looking engines....
