Not being there I can't comment on a specific display, but I can think of one reason for leaving the tablecloth off.  Ever see someone snag a cloth and clear the table?  Bad enough if it's dinner, but rather expensive at a train show.  With a bare table at least they'll probably only lose one model at a time.

Funny that instead of discussing new products we have now fixated on the tablecloth.   The BLI display was a well-finished oak display unit, obviously custom-made for BLI. It was not one of the plain folding-leg tables provided by the venue.  No tablecloth needed or desired.  I agree that the placards could have been printed instead of being handwritten (for more professional look), but that didn't really bother me.

You now make me wonder if the booth display is new. Seriously, the two WGH shows where I saw them two and three years ago they had nothing other than the usual venue-supplied blue curtain backdrop and folding tables with a few models spread out. Didn't matter to me - I was happy to see them there, and we had a lively, productive chat each time. Nice folks.

I seem to vaguely recall that they has this (or another fancy) custom display at last years Springfield show. I didn't pay too much attention then as they didn't have anything interesting to me in N scale at that time.  Now I wish that I took a photo of the entire display but who knew it would come in handy.  Bryan's photos show more of that display.

Maybe they had an issue shipping stuff and official name plates got damaged or left behind or delayed.  Some always need to find something to complain about.

This explains how the poorly printed Shapeways models presented on the gold platter are getting good reviews.  :ashat:

Meh .. I don't care what their booth looks like . they cost money, add overhead, which in turn increases the price of the model ..  a couple of sawhorses and a sheet of plywood are fine ..

Are you kidding.  Make the booth as fancy as they want.  They can then knock it off as an advertising expense on their taxes.

Does three pages of "booth/table" reviews, point-counterpoint indicate that:

a/there was a lack of new and exciting releases to review or

b/ civilization as we know it is coming to an end........

'cause it has to be one of them............
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Well, (now that I saw it in-person) I could talk about the Rapido pre-production rendering of the meat reefer and its heavy-handed rendering of the gaps between the boards, way oversize (to the point of being clunky) ladders and door hinges, but I might get in trouble.  The model appeared to be primed and the primer did not minimize the grooves between the boards.

Sorry - you've asked.

The CB&Q baggage also looks close for a PRR BM70f, just missing two windows. As for window arrangment, the PRR BM70KAs rebuilt from PRR BM70es are dead one, as are Reading MBLs. As was stated earlier about detail differences, we will have to see how close MTL follows the prototype.

It's a near-certainty that MTL will release the baggage-mail decorated for PRR regardless.  So at worst, it will be a simple kitbash to match the model to the Pennsy prototype.

I may--shudder to think--use it as-is if it comes in PRR.  Thanks to ESM and Fox Valley my prototype-to-foobie ratio is out of whack.  Too much of the former and not enough foob.   :D
