Great news!  I look forward to more auto racks.  In my opinion, Red Caboose's auto racks blow the competitors' away.

This sounds like good news to me.  I really like Fox Valley's approach- they seem to produce many unique cars that compliment what is available from larger manufacturers (thinking here of the MILW and B&O boxcars, and of course the Hiawatha).  Hope we see a new run of the X-29 in the not too distant future (I need a couple REA express cars).

While we obviously have a LOT of coupler options....

I really hope they keep the old Unimate coupler alive.

It is such a simple, easy and reliable replacement for the Rapido.

Great news!

I believe this is good news. I've noticed a definite negative change in the auto racks since the change to Intermountain. I have confidence in Fox Valley to commit to quality.

I agree that the auto rack quality has sagged under Intermountain's watch, but I think IM also manages FVM production too, no?  Hopefully FVM will have direct oversight of quality control.

Other improvements I'd love to see:
* Auto-racks: consider a body-mount mechanism along the lines of the Bluford 86' box cars.  The MT 1019 doesn't work very well for me.

* Centerbeams: lower the ride height; adjust the truck spacing to be correct for the open and single-panel cars, retool the outer bulkhead and top of the beam to be correct for those same two styles.  Add weight!  (Maybe cast the entire floor in metal?)

* Covered hoppers: upgrade the end cage detail and convert to etched roof walks.

+1 !!
And it would be nice if they were more readily available.

Since Matt once worked at Intermountain, this is no real surprise to me and I am sure the quality will come up. IM has gone to the dogs, yes I have had a recent beef with their vaunted customer service. Can't or will not fix a problem with two of their new F-7 units. That is another story, but I am out $180.00 and am bummed . No more IM anything for me.

Let it rain PRR X29s and FM flats!   Hallelujah!

Yes!  I bought, and still have, a bunch of those Red Caboose X29's from my PRR days.  They were one of
the few that have the trucks positioned out closer to the ends of the car, and the correct car shape for an
X29.
