Weathering looks good, but I'm also not sure about those streaks on the tender. They look strange.

It's been 2 days since the streaks...apparently they got a lot lighter in those two days. I cleaned them up and it looks a lot better. Pics after dullcoat.

Shaping up quite nicely. I'm certainly glad that I decided to have you work your magic on it. Nothing I could have done would ever look as good as what you've done to it.

Between the magic @peteski worked on it, and now your expert weathering, my H10 has become quite the  :ashat: collaboration project.

Your Dad's H9 is more "work" than "progress" right now...  :)
New trucks are mounted and most of the cosmetic stuff has been addressed. I'm hoping to get it wrapped-up this next weekend, or close to it.

Hey folks, I'm back from the grave (TWSS)!

I recently rediscovered I had taken some pictures of my M1a weathering adventure and thought it would be swell to post about it here instead of my usual of making smartass comments, invoking Ed Slaw (mmm tasty!), or writing haiku about Tom Mann.

The reference:


The Tender:
I did the same things here I did on my K4. I'm not crazy with the pool of water, but I don't hate it enough to change it.


I kinda got lazy here and didn't really know what else to do:


Side turned out nice:





The front part:
It's really about layers, colors and washes. THe hardest part for me is matching the colors.




You can see grime and soot on the boiler. I use a black wash to give subtle texture to the already mostly black surface.

Thanks! @tom mann said he weathered half of this, but I have no recollection.
I have 2 of them, and I weathered them both together.  I just went further with this one.

To confirm, I went back in the post he quoted and was able to match the date with the date of my M1 private album (it's salacious) on Facebook. The links have obviously expired, but the dates match! I also learned that I weathered Dave's EM1 AFTER he and I worked on the M1.

Of course, it would have been easier to take Tom's word for it  :trollface:

I have indeed thought about it...
My problem is that all this happened so long ago, I don't know if I can piece it all together in the same order.
I'm worried the text won't match the photos.

A friend said to me "perfect is the enemy of good" so I can live with it if they don't match up 100%.
