N-Scale Trash Cans

Anyne know of a resource for N-Scale trashcans?  There is no shortage of dumpsters or modern looking plastic trashbins ... but I'm looking for the metal style trashcans that would have been prevalent in the 1950s.

Thanks
Mike

In the 80s I picked up some really nice metal castings of those small old-fashion metal trash cans. I think they were made by Alloy Forms or maybe Detail Associates?

Even their color was perfect as-is. The pewter (or whatever metal they used) looked just like the galvanized finish of the 1:1 cans.

It is Detail Associates, also, parking meters and some lamp posts.  Go to the Detail Associates web site and see the detail parts they offer.

The Woodland Scenics "Assorted Junk" detail pack has a variety of classic metal/ribbed trash cans in various states of crapitude -

A bit spendy if you need lots of them, but nice for accents.

Catt:  After looking at the Shapeways item, I agree.  I thought maybe they only showed one, but the $5.99 got you a bunch of them.  Nope.  One can.  No way.

Both companies that I found carrying the Details Associates cans are both out of stock.

Agree with the ShapeWays cans ... way too expensive.

Maybe I'll pick up a couple of the Woodland Scenics sets that have cans and try my hand at casting ....

Re:  the Shapeways trashcan --  It looks to me like the flutes on the can are raised out from the surface.  I don't know if my memory is playing tricks on me, but it seems to me like the flutes should be embedded INTO the surface.  Am I off base?

The ones I remember growing up were more corrugations than flutes, so it could be argued either way.  Those definitely look like they were stamped from the inside, which, for a steel can, could be done.  Stamp the sides, roll it into a tube, weld the bottom in.  I don't remember seeing cans quite like that, 40+ years ago, in the Northwest.

Looks right to me for maybe 40 years back to present for what I remember in Southern California. This works out to be a 20 gallon size, approx. 27.5 inches tall in 1:1 scale. Any earlier and I recall skinnier and heavier cans even for a lot of small businesses. Nearly all of those (but not all) had indented corrugations/fluting IIRC. Recall that we normally didn't have the mounds of packaging trash we do today Xcept at Xmas.

BTW this can looks like it needs handles on the body.

I agree that the Shapeways can is too expensive. Maybe after not selling any, he will wise up and go for a quantity set-up.
