Don't be too harsh on the old guy. He put it up in the low 20s and took his chances. Sounds to me from his reply he is fed up with it all and wants to clear the decks, a solid case of CBF.

Yeah, I got the vibe he's getting out of the hobby and likely doesn't have track/power for it.

He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

havinghfuntoo and chicken45

believe me when I say I agree with you.
and it means you will get the item ... and what ever it may or may not be...

I have won a few of those auctions.
I feel little need to over reach for a pig in a poke.

Well,I won it. When I get it,I will let you all know if it was worth it. I bought one of these new in the early 90's and it ran well by the standards of the day.

Victor, you will not see me putting up my hand for that. I am astounded at how much people pay for rubbish (no insult directed at you talltales, I hope it is as good as you hoped for and your gamble pays off) on ebay.

I am guilty of not checking photos properly and buying without seeing a picture of both sides of the model. I have four pieces of Brass for parts to prove it, and before you all chime in and tell me to return the items, postage to down under is not loose change in your pocket, and to pay return postage can in most instances adds up to 30% or more of the purchase price .......hence it is 'suck it up princes'  ..... and learn from the experience.

I decided he was a little shy....

I debated about asking,  I have a few e-bay items I was not tickled to get

I have a b-mann 0-4-0 I got... I mistook it for the Atlas version

I am not bragging I paid too much, just did not get what I expected.
I also have a 4-4-2 PRR that is not photogenic, and is quite the sparkler on the layout.

so I hoped we may get a little news about an out of the ordinary model.

I have been called a lot of things, but shy is not one of them. I am sorry that I have not followed up on that locomotive but this year has not been a good one for model railroading and I have to ask for your forgiveness. I have have had truck totaled, two heart attacks, and open heart surgery since the first of the year. My wife and oldest son decided to clean up my area for me while I was in the hospital and as a result I have no idea where that loco is residing at this moment, but I will look for it. The loco was not what I thought it was,but I have seen some pics of another one like it. I think it was at an n scale convention. As I recall, the motor was toast and the electrical pick up on the tender poor by todays standards. the mechanism seemed ok. The shell is a cut down trix and whomever did it,did an excellent job on it. It shouldn't take more than an evening and a few parts from the parts box to have it running. Now,all I have to do is get my life back in order, get caught up with work, and find it. Thanks for reminding me about it Vic. ;)

ummmm....
goodness!

get healthy first!
everything else is second.

this trains and forum stuff is intended to be fun.
There is no need to apologize or worry about being forgiven.
... well, not by me in any case...

I can help with fried motors on way or another
and we definitely will have more than enough advice
for repairs and tune-ups!

Well, I found it. The mechanism is also a cut down trix K4 and well done. I refuse to believe that the same person did the loco and tender. The tender chasis and trucks are throw aways. I will keep the tender shell and put some Bachmann trucks under it. Thanks for the offer of help on the motor, but I have several that will fit. I bought the parts from Eldon to do the modification to the trix compound gear on some K4 I have. These worked well,so I will do that to this loco too, since I have the parts on hand. hopefully it won't be several months before I can tell you how it worked out. :D
