These are very nice!  (Way better than I could do.)  But judging from the proto-photo in the background, I think you want slightly more spartan foliage and an upward branch structure.

It is a start!
The "bar" exists only in our heads and we all can handle that "bar" May be not right away buta kind of :  more up and some times- ore often-  a little bit down...
I don't want to be unpolite but I have some remarks about the frames: they look to regular. May be try with the next "batch"of trees to avoid regularity of the shape and amounts of horizontal twigs/branches.
It also makes the job "easier" when using an electrostatic grass applicator. I mean improving the chances of modelling these kind of  trees in a more realistic way.
Less is more when adding the "layers"of grassfibres!
Btw: Looks like you used a - small-  BBQstick(?)
Try to make the frame less rough by using floristic wires or solder the frames with thin stiff wires of brass(?)or stripped elect. wires??
it will improve the overall look of the tree at the end!

Jos, any type of critique, coming from a master tree-maker like you, is welcome (at least by me). When teachers teach their pupils how to master a task, critique is to be expected.

I was also wondering of there was a possibility for you to go back through this thread and fix (replace) all those wonderful photos you inclued here (but were blocked by Photobucket).  There is so much info lost if the  photos are missing from the writeups.

@grove den  I know that it is a lot of work, but you could even upload those photos directly to this forum. That way photos would be permanently tied to your posts.

How long does it take you to make a single tree?

At the beginning- 12 years ago-  it took me about 1/2 an hour...right now - as I speak- when using a stopwatch to count the real time that is involved by making a pine tree from about 15 cm: 15 minutes or so.
I did not count the minutes of glue drying etc .
But is it realy important to know the time of making just one tree????
Is it not important how much time is involved but like Boedha once said/wrote: it is the way/the path  to the endresult that is important...not the endresult(s)

Time does matter to some extent....I figure mine take about 30 to 45 minutes each if I was to work on one from start to finish- excluding drying time of course. If this was a couple of hours per tree, the time wouldn’t be worth it. I figure I will need well over 100.

I can imagine the process gets faster the more you do it. With how long people can spend weathering cars, handlaying all their track etc I don’t see these as outlandish from a time commitment perspective. I think these hands down are the best trees I have ever seen. I am going to use supertrees I have for the time being and try these techniques to make pines and eventually some deciduous.
