After many delays I have gotten to prime the BLT with the modified chassis for the vacuum car project . I still need to fill in some places and I haven't yet decided on the paint scheme this loco will get . The choices are standard W&LG , MOW W&LG , or something special for the vacuum car . There are 2 banks of a pair of 10 ohm 2 watt resistors . I can run this without as is wired now , or reduce the starting voltage to 1.5 volts with one bank of resistors which are in parallel  giving 5 ohms at 4 watts , or add in series the other bank giving 10 ohms at 8 watts and a starting voltage of 3 volts . After the vacuum car is done I will test which is better , which I think is both banks in the ckt as that's when the vacuum fans start up . I just need to add some hand grabs on the vacuum car , paint , and try to remember the last wiring design iteration which is partially interregnal to the car body .

This is a quick and crappy cellphone pic from a few days ago, but I figured out how to install MTL couplers on the Bachmann USRA hoppers.  And also swap in Andrews trucks.  This will be finished as a Pennsy GLd, hopefully by next weekend, along with six more painted for New Haven.

Beautiful job, Rich.  I think that behemoth deserves a special, though tasteful scheme.

Did some work on this here F23.
I sanded the sides down, which removed the rivets, but I had to as there was a lot of "noise" on there.
As I understand it, these tykes got crown trucks later in life. I goo'd in a 905 Z coupler. There is no way I can screw that thing on. It seems to be at a good height. At the very least, it matched up well with the N coupler gauge.
I plan to Archer Rivet this guy and see what happens! Since this was such a small car, I decided to hand brush it. Not too sure how I feel about it just yet.

Also put some MTL D78 trucks on a HGM RPO!

Much progress on scenery over the past week or so.  I'm ballasting the track now and working on trees.

Did this over New Years Eve and Day.

Richie, I have to admit, I'm generally not a fan of foobs, but, wow, that thing looks way cool.  Good job!

Edit:  Accidentally posted the same photo twice.

Built a depot for my new Colorado Midland micro layout.  Boy did it feel good to build something again!

I've also been collecting a period roster for the same.  I know the two D&RGW cars are both anachronistic (the Denver & Rio Grande added the Western in 1921, about the time the last of the Colorado Midland's rails were being pulled up) and complete foobs, but I'm not ate up about that right now.  They sure do look Colorado, so that's good enough for now.

I feel so inadequate sometimes next to you guys... simply awesome work by all above...   :o

Got back from vacation and finished up this project this morning.  It's not 100% accurate for the real #7399, but I didn't feel like getting to far into the weeds (i.e. hack up good shells to modify the hand brake), which I'm okay with and the owner is too...  :D

At some point, I need to start body mounting all of my couplers.  Probably wait until I build a layout though.  So for know, I continue to paint...

Cheers,
Brian

Jon,
What's the gage on that beast?  Think we can run it on two parallel tracks?

BTW, you need to add some hand rails on the little guys hood to match the beast!

This week I remotored a HO AHM Trolley with a can motor I had laying around. This conversion involved some removing of material and building a new motor mount using balsa wood. After this, I then cleaned all the parts and removed all the old grease. I also resolder all the connections and I decided to keep the grain bulb. All the "detail" parts were also reglued and the mech received some new lubricant. This project is destined for Ebay along with a dummy trolley I have.
