The density (think porosity) of the material it is applied to, or spilled on, determines the amount and relative ease of removal.  The denser the material, the better results you will have with removal.  Clothing? Ain't coming out!  Skin?  It will wear off in a few days.  Plaster?  Forget it!  Metal?  You should be able to get most of it off if it has not had any pressure applied.  Figure that there WILL be some discoloration no matter the material and if you do try to remove it and get some of it off, then you've been very successful. 

As for the conductivity...........remember, it is graphite and that is a very good conductor of electricity.  You may get lucky and not have a problem, but if you do, it could be persistent due to the micro grain structure of the graphite.  Personally, I wouldn't want to push my luck and definitely would not try it on any electric motors.

There is also mention of using neolube for MT couplers.  It would be worth a try.  Neolube is used in the nuclear industry to prevent galling of stainless steel parts.  It isn't used as most would think of a lubricant being used.  It makes a micro thin layer that doesn't interfere with SS parts that have very tight tolerances and that are under extreme pressure and/or temperature.  As said by someone else, it literally gets into the "pores" of steel.  That is what makes cleanup and removal so hard.

Thanks for the explanation Bob. I don't like to puff the powdered graphite into the coupler boxes - it is messy!  But dipping a Micro-Brush in NeoLube, then touching the inside of the coupler box letting the NeoLube spread inside sounds like a much cleaner solution.

I'll experiment with conductivity when I get my bottle - I don't think it will be all that conductive unless it is layered thick enough for the particles to touch and overlap.

Let us know how things work for you, especially with the couplers.  As I said earlier, I wouldn't get any neolube anywhere close to the internal works of one of my locos.  Dealing with a recalcitrant decoder is more than enough for me to fight with!

And then the NMRA Convention swap tables in Portland next year. Run demonstrations of how to use the stuff and people will buy bottles just because they see how it works. No shipping charge then, either. I'd think at a big convention you'd sell 50-60 bottles easily.

I appreciate everyone's concern.   But I have checked this out thoroughly with the Post Office,
more than once to make sure I get the same story.

Yes, there are lots of rules about shipping hazardous chemicals.
But it is a lot easier if you are shipping little bottles and not big jugs.  I just got back from the Post Office and confirmed the rules with them again.  The product contains alcohol.  It is treated just like perfumes or solvent-based
paints for hobby use.  All I have to do is tell them that it is flammable, and they will mark it and ship
it ground-only.  There aren't even any extra extra charges.

If you are an industrial user, shipping large quantities of flammables, or large containers of it,
it gets a lot more complicated.  Fortunately, it's not as bad for little fish like us mailing 2 ounce bottles.

That's great news, all the commercial shippers always told me it would be like $50 to ship me even a small bottle because of hazardous material laws, but my wife gets perfume sample bottles in the mail all the time with no special labels or costs.  Thanks so much for doing this, I've been wanting to try the stuff for ages.  I rely on the points on my peco turnouts to power my frogs and have been told this stuff will greatly improve reliability (and look good!)
