John:  If those log cars work out well, you might want to contact Marshall Thompson at Republic Locomotive Works.  He sells etched parts and kits, and used to be constantly looking for new models to introduce.  I imagine he still is.  He also pays royalties to those who provide masters, and probably artwork, although I never did any etched parts for him.  I get a check every year for models he's sold from my models.

If this works out, I'll look into it.  I personally don't need more than a couple cars, as this was the least common log car on DSRR.

I went and extruded out the parts to the thicknesses that I'll be using and 'assembled' the model to check that everything fits correct.y. After a couple small tweaks, it comes together nicely. I still need to finalize coupler mounting and adjust the holes for the bolster pins, but, this is most of the car. Also need to do brake gear and other details.  The log bunks are three layers to get the raised middle portion; I'll be adding a method to ensure proper alignment, probably using some of the detail parts as pins.

This will be a very small model, 1.5" long, 3/4" wide, and a little over 1/2" high.

I got my NYC L/L E8 back up and running sans any more noise thanks to MECGP7, I really appreciate Clint's help! I also brought back to life a 1st gen L/L GP18 that was a freebie with another locomotive I purched off ebay a few years ago. The leads were broken off, full of dirt and cat hair. Runs like an absolute charm, now I need to find a shell.

Glad to help on that E unit. I think I can help again. PM me about the GP18 shell.

Power Stroke, I really like the used car lot, very nice. Was that a kit or kitbash? Another question, is your layout based on the Gulf Summit Susquehanna Valley layout in the Atlas N scale layout book?

Continued work on my GS-5 and GS-6

Painted the wheels on both and redecaled the tender and painted the fire and smoke box on the GS-6.

Thanks,
Wolf

Wolf,

How did you remove/cover the small lettering on your GS-6 tender?  I have the LIk GS-1, #4407 with the small lettering and want to change it to large lettering to match my 4405.  I've been toying with ideas how to do it without stripping and repainting the tender.  What did you do?

Phillip

Rich.
The used car lot is a Blair Line kit. My layout is the Atlas N-18 GS&SV. I have been working on this for some 6 years now. I originally built it and ran it per the book but then found there where far to many limitations for my taste when it came to modeling, and landscaping. If I had built it on a much larger table, the yard section (lower front) would have been useable, as I did not, it just didn't work. Based on suggestions from members here and the old Atlas forum, I made changes to suit my needs. Here is a link to my photobucket page that shows it's evolution.

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I have more photos on my tumblr page at http://wncrails.tumblr.com/.
