Given the location etc, these tracks are fairly straight.  Here is Google view

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8338817,-77.019488,335a,35y,270h/data=!3m1!1e3

And I deliver here on a regular basis for work so I see the track at ground level too.  Track is in fairly good condition

Golden spike ceremony tonight !  No crews were around for the moment but here's photographic proof.  Still need a couple pieces of flex to finish some sidings but main is connected in all directions.  Now lots of bus to run, feeders to drop and soldering.  Oh yes, soldering and flux.  I can inhale the fumes already.

I feel much better now with only 4 weeks until the Mainline Hobby Supply Open House.  Holy *****, only 4 weeks  :o :scared:

Felt amazing reaching that point on a small layout, can't even imagine on a huge on like this.

We should assemble a Golden Spike Special for you to run... you know... when the wiring is done!

We did one for mine, and guys from all over Railwire world sent their varnish to me to participate, and several key players came over to raise a toast.  It was pretty fun.  Somewhere out there in the ether there's a video of the occasion.

Should this come to pass, the Laurel Valley will be pleased to send along its executive car...

Lee,
I like this idea. Adam I am happy to take ride up with a few custom coal hoppers for the big run.

I still have my N scale C&O 10-6 sleeper car, "City of Fosteria," that was used on Lee's :ashat: Express and on the M3T.  I can make this car available, if a Golden Spike Special becomes a reality.

All excellent suggestions.  I'll keep posted as to the progress and let you know.  Sounds like a great idea !

Edit: To start things off, I've ordered one of the Rapido Youngstown sleepers.  Part of HogTrains clearance sale, good timing.

Roughed in track for Sonoco Products.  This is YorkRail's only customer in Hanover.  CSX drops loaded plastic pellet hoppers onto the lead, then YorkRail comes into town from Smiths over CSX trackage and shoves the cars down to Sonoco.

Drop off point and Sonoco Products can be seen in this Google Maps view.  DO in upper right, Sonoco in lower left corners

So what is the date of the open house, Adam?  I want to get it in my book if I can make it.
That would be a good opportunity to gather a special train for you to run.

More testing.  1 more section to wire up, then the big test.  Hooking everything together and see if they all play nicely with each other.

Got all my feeders dropped, bus run and connected everything together for a full test tonight.  Connections are ugly and have to figure out how to clean everything up, but all wired up and nothing shorted.  Trains ran good except for dirty track.  Goodness  :o  Have a couple spots to check feeders/clean turnout rails etc

Here is MOW train tying down at Center St for the night.

With less than a week from the Open House and Layout Tours hosted by Mainline Hobby Supply ( See thread in Upcoming Events section of the N/Z forum) I'm still going at the construction work.  Got fascia board up on one side of the layout this evening.
