I recoated the road, and repainted it.  For the life of me, I could not get my paint pens to flow properly like my test application .   :x  So I went in a different direction.  I had HO scale yellow stripes.  I used what was marked 1" for this.

I went back to LHS and picked up white striping today so I will apply those at some point over the next couple of days.

I also took care of a logistics issue that became very apparent during last years open house tours.  As installed, the door that leads from the garage into the other side of basement opened into the basement side, leaving the only option to come up two steps and across the landing.  This caused two problems.  1) It was a bottleneck as people entered and exited the room.  2) It posed a tripping hazard for those whose legs don't like to work properly.  So I took door off hinges, removed moulding, removed door frame, reinstalled door frame in opposite direction, reinstalled moulding, and rehung the door.  Problem solved, now guests can walk thru door and to the left, around the steps/landing, or proceed over the landing as before.

Next couple of days turned into the next hour or so.  Here is Granite Station Rd after a brief heavy shower (coat of dull coat to seal decals to surface).

I also picked up a decoder and installed it for my FVM Gevo.  Back down to 3 locomotives that need decoders !

I've finally been allowed to take a few days off of work so they've been spent mostly in the basement .  I've been working on area around AgCom and Security, as those are the areas you see first when you walk into the layout room.  I went from this earlier this week :

I took a couple more pictures, first up a shot waiting for D795 to cut its loads from the train to switch out AgCom

And secondly, an overhead shot, also showing my custom made wheelstops on the sidings ( red pieces at end of track ).  I made them from pieces of styrene that I cut to shape with xacto and dremel.

Well, if you want to be picky, I need crossing signals too.

Work in progress, need to get a stencil or decals/vinyl to do them justice.

The rains Sunday (after the N Scale Weekend) resulted in a Conrail detour move over the Hanover Sub.

The layout is really coming along, and the sceniced area looks really great. Can't wait to see more.

Where does one get the street railroad crossing stencils or decals ?  I also need them.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Microscale has a road markings sheet but it depends on how many crossing you have, only has a few so you'd have to get multiple sets.  On a whim, I checked Shapeways and typed railroad crossing stencil and sure enough, one is out there.

There is also a brass stencil by S&S Hobby, maybe available thru Walthers.

Thank you so very much !!  I have a total of 12 crossings on my three layouts.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I did mine by hand with a paint marker.  Passes the 3 feet away test.
