For those Southern Pacific modelers out there the paint scheme used on the new MT diner is a prewar scheme with "SOUTHERN PACIFIC LINES"on the letter boards and lines above and below the car numbers. While this looks great, I believe most modelers would want the postwar scheme, where the road name on the letter boards was changed to"SOUTHERN PACIFIC", the lines above and below the numbers removed. They might also want the version of this paint scheme where the car type, "DINER", "BAGGAGE" etc. appeared at letter board height near both car ends. These were the markings used during the steam to diesel transition era also two tone gray paint, which we may get some day. It is interesting to note that the history data provided by MT for each car indicates the actual Pennsylvania car was built in the Company's shops and the foob (but nicely done) Canadian Pacific car's prototype was also built in the railroad's shops.
