We would like to do our diner in the Milwaukee red and orange scheme as with the other cars we did.  Having a difficult time finding any heavyweight diner photos in any color.  Any help out there?  Yes fudge but we have a lot of folks wanting them to add to their trains.  Focus people  :D

A quick search of Jerry's passenger car site didn't reveal anything.

Shameless plug for this car whenever you do L&N though.  It's at the local rail museum, which also doubles as a hobby shop to pay the bills.  They have a pretty good selection of MT cars too.  What could be better than that?  :D   I bet I could get you the cursive script from them.

Edit: Seems like the name "Dan Healey" was a heavyweight diner name.  That's also the name American Z used on theirs.

You've probably already contacted them, but if not, you could try the Milwaukee Road Historical Association:

I've never had any contact with them, and don't know anything about them, but my railroad's historical society has a lot of old photos and documents.  I imagine theirs does as well, or would know who does have them.

Hmm... how about a
nice checkerboard
paint scheme...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

By my recollection they were all MoW yellow with black roofs and said "PC" in Penn Central font on the sides.

If you're not going to paint the window frames and doors maroon, and not going to put a car name or number on it, what will the prototype photo provide?

Orange sides, maroon letterboard, brown roof and underbody like the other cars and you're done making a matching set.

No eggs for you!   Hey I did your baggage car.   Actually, I have requested we put the single window coach in after the baggage cars just to get you guys off my back.  :)

Single window coach? News indeed!! Thank you.

For the range please consider TTG generic 'Pullman' and Illinois Central orange and brown - their heavyweights looked so cool in this scheme as did Wabash blue of course

Since we're throwing hats in the ring, I guess B&O blue and grey will probably get on the diner, baggage and coach, so I will amend too the following:

B&O (pullman green)
B&O (all blue)
C&O (blue and grey)
C&O (pullman green)

Greetings again,

I hadn't seen the Milwaukee Rd. discussion group on Yahoo for diner information mentioned.  Maybe someone there can help.

Joe , A good source on a Milwaukee heavyweight diner is the long out of print book "Classic Trains "by Arthur D. Dubin Kalmbach Publishing Co. 1964.The Milwaukee Road is covered starting on Page 250.On page 258 bottom is a photo of Heavyweight Diner "Dan Healy" named after a long time railroad Steward Dan Healy. This car was 72 feet long and contained the first electrical refrigeration in U.S. rail dining. The car seated 36. When Healy passed away in 1922 he was the oldest dining car steward in country, among other factoids he'd served nine different U.S. presidents on the rails. The photos in this book are all Black & White, the car is shown in the book is painted in a scheme similar to the one you have used on your Milwaukee Cars with the car name "Dan Healy" centered on the car side. I used gold alphabet decals years ago to add the name to my MLW Santa Fe type Rivarossi Diner. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.
