Sooo... Where should I put it?
« on: November 08, 2014, 09:55:53 AM »
Admins,

I'm preparing a tutorial on improving ditch lights on the FVM GP60 by adding LEDs.

Where would you like the tutorial posted?

Thanks,

Jim Reising

I'm no Admin (thank the Deity) but if this is the expansion of your GP60 work posted last week I'd say either N scale or DCC Electronics.  THen, just to outsmart @Ed Kapuscinski , Make a short post in the other section you didn't choose that links to the one you did choose.

Yep, that's what it is, Philip.

I was leaning toward N Scale - suspect nobody'd see it in DCC, least not the ones who might profit from it.  Very little DCC involved, mostly how I did it...

Put it in nscale .. the most important thing is that it gets documented for others.

Funny, I would have placed it  it in the Electronic section of the forum.  After all those are LEDs (electronic components) and they are powered by electricity.    I think the name of the forum scares and turns people away.  It really isn't a DCC forum.  Maybe it started that way but it seems that things have evolved. As the name shows:

DCC / Electronics
DCC, animation, lighting, and everything electronics.

I think a simple name change might make non-DCC people more comfortable about visiting it or placing related posts in there (instead of dumping everythign in N/Z section for best visibility).

How about:

Electrical/Electronics
wiring, lighting installs, animation, DCC, microcomputers, everything electronics

I think that this little change would drastically reduce the fear of people from posing or visiting there.

If it doesn't end up in the n scale forum, start a thread on another forum complaining that it isn't.

Put it in Product Discussion, since it is about the FVM GP60M.  ;)  But seriously, I'd call dealer's choice here since there are good arguments to be made for both N and DCC/Electronics, so your call Jim.  This will be a good example of a thread some will want to Bookmark; thanks for taking the time to document it!
