The N scale FL9 is coming along quite nicely and we're going to begin tooling within the next few weeks. Jason and I have been going back and forth on a number of items and working with Bill (the master of the FL9) I am learning so much about this iconic locomotive... thought I'd share some drawing with you....







The HO scale version is a few weeks ahead which is fine because I'm "going to school" on it. For more about the FL9 in N scale have a read of our newsletter - it's can be found on our website. (although you should sign up for it... it's really quite amusing...

Judging by the coupler, this are renderings of the N scale model.  Plenty of detail (on the top and under too). Going by colors, lots of those are separate details (again, very nice).

The rear trucks only has 2 axles powered? Interesting...

But the nose contour is all wrong!

I would like to see all five axles powered for maximum piling power!

The FL9 utilized an A-1-A rear truck, meaning the center axle was unpowered. Notwithstanding the prototypical reason for leaving it unpiwered it really isn't necessary; all production F units use two powered axles per truck and have perormed fine in N scale for years and the experience we have with our A-1-A GMD-1 samples clearly shows puling power isn't an issue.

I get it and understand both prototype fedility and product application but I always liked the fully powered trucks on the various models that have had A-1-A trucks.  BLI E units don't pull as well as Kato for example.
