N Scale Street Signs

I finally finished a project I have been working on for a while. This link will bring you to a very large Word 97 file containing two pages of N scale street signs in various sizes. These were patterned after, and scaled to current DOT standards and should be useful for anyone modeling the mid 1970's and later.

These may take a while to load, they are very large files.

Try printing these on a color laser printer with edge enhancement set to maximum and dithering set to minimum. If printing from a ink jet, use thin, glossy photo paper and set quality to maximum.

If you are looking to make faded yellow signs, you can print the on colored paper in black and white.

I usually seal my signs with Scotch tape and paint the back silver before gluing to a post of .015" bronze wire.

Let me know if the links don't work or if they do not come out clearly.

GREAT. Thank you very much!  :)

Does anybody know which signs can be used for 1965 to 1970? Or tell me where to look up what signs were used?

Javier:  I'd start here:
http://www.trafficsign.us/oldmutcd.html
They have the 1961 and 1971 traffic sign/marking manuals, and the 1961 should have everything you need.

And, if you need a particular sign, many of them can be found on other pages of the site, starting from here
http://www.trafficsign.us/index.html

If you want particular higway route signs, many of them can be found, as large images, in Wikipedia, by searching for US or (state name) highways.  That's how I found the Montana secondary signs for my layout.  They look like a stone spear point, and wouldn't be easy to make myself.

Is anyone else having trouble with the resolution? Mine appear to be very bit-mappish(?) on close inspection.

Thanks Daniel. Great job.

I was able to open the second one, but the first one seems to hang. Any chance you could print it as a PDF, and email it to me?
