Took the Canon Rebel T3-i and tripod to the BNSF yard in Cheyenne, one block walk for some new pic:

Tim: You and Jeff absolutely nailed those cars; outstanding effort on every level. Well done !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Can we get a cheat sheet for names?
Philip, can you post the pic of "New Cody?" He was an a$$hat from Wisconsin and in typical Josh fashion, I forgot both his name and screen name even though we talked for like half an hour.
I almost brought ceremonial bacon.

Say my name: RANDGUST

I'm the new Cody - muktown128 (Scott).  Yes, I live in Wisconsin, but I am originally from the Jersey shore.  As I told Josh, I was there for the pic and saw you guys waiting around for it, but I didn't know anyone.  It was great to meet a few of you guys.  I enjoyed chatting with Josh for a bit.  Nice tank engine you have there BTW.

My son and I both enjoyed the show and hope to come back again.

Yeah, Scott! Great to meet you guys!

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Weekend Project: the bridge at Bena on SP's Tehachapi Pass route. In typical SP fashion, this bridge looks like someone said "we need a bridge here, go see what you can find in that scrap pile to build one," so obviously it's not available in kit form. My version is made from the Atlas c55 girder kit with the remaining structure scratchbuilt from wood, styrene, and code 40 rail. The glue on the ballast is drying now and she'll get weathered up tomorrow. The piano wire for the handrails will go on absolutely last.

Nice Bena bridge !  I have video tape of the bridge at Ilmon over the Caliente Creek being replaced taken over a two day period.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Thanks! I was down there in 2008 when that happened too. We were in shock that they weren't replacing the old bridge with a double track structure to allow for the inevitable double tracking of this section. My layout lives in 1994 so I'll be including the old bridge there, which is a shame since the BLMA modern concrete bridge is almost an exact replica of the new bridge there!

Love the bridge.  Do you know a good source for piano wire? I used to pick it up at the hardware store but they don't carry it anymore.

This isn't progress on my part by any means but some parts came in the mail and I'm very excited.  I've wanted to build a model of the E&N Niagara Canyon Bridge for some time.  It's absolute art.  530ft of pin connected twin cantilever awesomeness.  I thought it impossible due to the thousands of pins and links that make up the bridge but thanks to drawings from 120 years ago and fellow a$$ h&#! Scott, who did the artwork for me, I now have all of the etched links I need to start this project.  .006" phosphor bronze.

Below is the prototype, and below below is my sheet of etched bridge candy.

Thanks Mark! After this, if I ever finish it, I hope to do the truss bridge across the Cowichan River at Duncan.

My next entry is some progress on two CPR locomotives that have been sitting for a while. I built a couple of GP9s and they are ready for assembly, but the one the back ground here waited for me two cast two radiator fans and convert it to a Phase 3. The other is my SD40-2 Expo 86 model which I posted about in another thread. I've decided to finish it before Intermountain releases theirs. Yesterday I shot the red. Today I masked one shot the black. Decals are scheduled for tomorrow.

And finally I decided to start two BCR C44-9. The left model has a Kaslo cab fitted on to it.

Thanks for looking.
