Thanks for that feedback, Chuck.
It's fun to model something that is locally unique, or iconic to a particular location.  I've built a couple of things that viewers can immediately identify with a time or place, such as the Cumberland WM station, or the Burhans Blvd. overpass at Hagerstown yard.

I agree that there's a risk of "cartooning" a building like Captain James, but anyone who has traveled Boston Street any time in the last 40 years would immediately recognize it, and the tracks did go right by on the Aliceanna Street side, so it fits the locale.  I'm looking forward to working on it to see how it turns out, almost as much as I'm looking forward to starting on it someday... :ashat:

I'm afraid I'll have to re-lay the short S turn behind the brewery.  These newfangled gondolas with their accurate ride height, length, and body mounted couplers have created an engineering challenge for my erstwhile yet sloppy MOW crew...

Touristas!

After the visit by the McGrattan train, the brass at the CH&FP have decided that people would flock to Canton to rumble down the streets of East Baltimore.
Actually the engine is one of my acquisitions from the Junk Box Survivors campaign that will eventually be a part of a series of articles about repurposing those old steam locomotives we all have rolling around in the back of the drawer.  Too nice to get rid of, but too unreliable, clunky, and or badly designed to be a functional part of the railroad.

I found the coaches in plastic bags at Star Hobby... apparently Bachmann repackages stuff that comes out of returned/warranty train sets and sells them on the cheap ($8 a piece!).  The lettering says "New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington" which would have put these coaches in the original Northeast Corridor, which passed down Boston Street in the 19th century, so I thought "what the hay?"

Now I'm sad that I sold the old Aurora flatcar I had that was fitted out with benches and handrails.

Lee, I understand completely. I have the 0-4-0 and 0-6-0, both Bachmann locomotives, both are fair examples of their prototypes, unfortunately both perform rather poorly.

Well, they're just lampooning joke posts, but at least they're posts about the CH&FP! One of my favorite railroads to follow, along with the Mahoning Division, the Juniata Division, and the L&N in Ohio and SC that both used to be in N. Ahh, memories ....

I'll say this, the NEWER Bachmann 0-6-0's mechanism is actually pretty decent.

Not pretty, but decent.

Sounds like you're describing Railwire members.

That's What Bubbles Said

Bubbles' 0-6-0's don't run because the mechanisms are full of kitty hairs...

...and Bubbles Tomato Sauce sounds like a good car spot for your layout because it's de-hee-cent..

Good to see you still working on stuff Lee, your old threads were an inspiration to me.

That's why Swayze's always winning!

I LOVE the scene of Sebastian Bach at the train show.  " So who here f@%ing likes model train railroading?" :D
