that cobblestone in the street looks great!

Isn't that Belgian Block?

He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Do you remember in the 80's when they dug it all up and relaid the block without the rail?

I've got a funny story about one of those blocks and a bicycle courier...  We'll have to get a beer some time so I can tell it to you.

There's a rough brick segment on Montgomery St. that I love to hammer through on the bike. It's where I learned how real steel was on a bike frame.

Oh no.  It wasn't like that at all.  I was working on Light Street at WITH Radio, and I had a friend in Towson who had a collection of bricks from historic buildings that had been torn down.  Well, I had picked up a Belgian block from President Street, which they were just tearing up to put in the new concrete road.  There was a pile of them just sitting there.  Now these things measured about 18" x 8" x 8" and they weighed a ton.

Well, I stuffed it into my back pack and walked back to my office.

Now, this friend of mine volunteered to print the radio station's newsletter out on his Mac... the old school one, the one that was about as big as a toaster with a screen not much bigger than a modern I-phone... so I had a courier that would run documents back and forth... email still being a few years in the future.

So I thought it would be efficient to sent this other package along with the usual documents.  I wrapped it up in brown paper, and put Bob's name and address on it, and called the courier service we used.

Usually they would send a guy with a Pinto or something, but around the end of the day, they would send a bicycle guy to keep out of trouble with the parking Stassi.  So this poor schlep shows up, lugs this stone down to the lobby, and bicycles it about a mile to meet the guy with the car to take it to Towson.

I phoned ahead to Bob and let him know he should give the guy a good tip.  I heard he passed away a few years ago.  I often wonder whatever became of that stone, and all those bricks.  I remember he had one from the C&O tunnel that John Henry supposedly work on...

Sounds like a plan, I am always up for a beer and a good story or two.

And with the push for the M3T past, and the holidays behind us, and all the other work that is required of me... the layout slides gently back into its coma...

Having finished more of the scenery, though, it's less likely to become a place to stack things.

It's also fun to fire up and run a train while I'm working...

I feel the same way, @wm3798.  I haven't even walked into the layout room for at least three days.  I made good progress over the last few months, though, because the inspiration and cause was well worth the effort.

Santa brought me a color printer...  Oh, the damage I can do now!

Looks like Edna Turnblad is doing some shopping down on the Avenue, Hon.

I'm thinking about coating the large figure in glitter.  I built up her beehive hairdo with some gel crazy glue and let it set while we watched some soap operas on channel 2.  What do you think?

Not to mention the imminent threat of the power-lines hitting the ground soon.   ;)  Looks good Lee, as usual.
