UP Railfan Dream Trip Report.

Filled a 30 year dream of mine to railfan Sherman Hill, Cheyenne, and Laramie last week as part of a 9 day Colorado & Wyoming vacation. Here are a few samples of some of the better crappy cell phone pictures I took during my time in Cheyenne and up on Sherman Hill. Lots of fun. Disclaimer, no rental cars were permanently damaged in procuring these photos.

20140712_152258 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  Is this a new style of autorack? I've not seen that type of panel on a model yet.

20140712_165540 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  Yes, 6936 was on "display." I needed a shot of a section track flatcar.

20140713_145114 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  West end of Tie siding. If not for the no trespassing signs, it was a short drive from here to Hermosa Tunnels.

20140713_161629 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  Perhaps the least visited monument in America. Its to the Ames brothers, instrumental in construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, and convicted criminals for embezzling lots of construction money.

20140713_170112 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  Vedauwoo Rocks. Not near the RR tracks unfortunately, but the same formation runs over to the UP line at Dale Junction, alas, another location closed off by obvious no trespassing signs.

20140713_173244 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  I was about to get trains and a tornado on the same trip.

20140713_180336 by peterkoehler-pfotenhauer, on Flickr  Hey, get us out of here now!

I'll stop here before I get your goat.
