My guess is flat car. Please  send   an email for the address to which you can send my beer.

Best wishes, Dave

Why not?  How many general-purpose prototypically-accurate N scale flatcars are there of any length, including this one?  Five?  And it was only three before this year.

I thought it was going to be out of both my eras, but I'm happy to see that they were first built in 1956.

For whatever reason, Conrail and Penn Central did not repaint a lot of the 25 they inherited from the PRR.  According to my 10/75 ORER, 24 cars marked PRR and 1 PC.  According to my 4/81 ORER, 18 PRR, 1 PC and 7 CR.  I have only seen one full CR repaint, which is on the CRHS website.  Most CR cars were PRR patch outs.  I will be in for all 4 PRR and maybe another four PRR for CR patch outs.  This is another car I never thought I would see in N.  Thanks Craig.

Jeff, do you have photos of any of the PRR patch-outs in the CR era?

I would never have guessed because:

1. I have a couple of the N scale of Nevada cast bodies, and just started to research the prototypes released in 1956, which also just squeak in for my era. Craig was supposed to wait until I had them finished, right? I'm buying the BLMA ones and can now look for some oddball variations to use the castings with.

2. Tangent has already done them in HO (pretty easy to do research, then). I figured that we'd never see them in N because of the existing model, no matter the scale. Well played, BLMA.

Good era(s) for this flat IMO. Nicely done with the oval cutouts and air hoses. We'll probably see the later ones eventually which need roller bearing trucks. And we probably can expect bulkhead versions somewhere down the line.

I wasn't real enthused about this at first, but I might get some to repaint in BNSF colors to make a welded rail train out of. This could be good.

Just a quick heads-up that we're closing pre-orders for these cars on September 15th!  Order now, or..... don't.   ;)  (But seriously, if you're interested, please get your order placed)

Built by General Steel Castings starting in 1956, this all-new N Scale flat car is packed with detail like:

• Ready-To-Run
• Die-Cast Metal Frame
• Fine-Scale Detail
• Prototypical Ride Height
• Installed Train line Air Hoses
• BLMA 70-Ton ASF Ride Control Trucks
• BLMA Low Profile 33" Metal Wheels
• Body-Mounted Brown Knuckle Couplers

This car is our first model to feature installed Train line Air Hoses. This detail raises the bar for N Scale models. Combine that with our metal wheels and trucks, and you've got one great running and looking model.

Roads Include: ATSF, BN, IC, SSW, PRR and WABASH

Wow! Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten. I'm ordering 5 of the flatcars from Chulvis right now.

Hmm... so much for Kiz
having more freight cars

I just pre-ordered six PRR cars from BLW.  Two are going to be Conrail paint outs.  Thanks Craig for bringing this car to the masses.
