If you can't get ahold of Searails, Tom Knapp might have his contact info.

Also I spent a lot of time putting blackened drivers from a Marklin 2-8-2 on my 2-6-0. I could barely get it to run. Popped back in the silver and red wheels and off it went. Who knows why.

What exactly does that mean, @VonRyan ? The wording confuses me a little, but then again I have been up for a while now.

Also, the 0-6-0 i have been tasked with servicing does indeed work (when power is applied directly to the motor contacts). However, it only works intermittently when power is transmitted through the wheels, so I assume part of the problem resides within the contact system, which will be examined this weekend.

It means that they took my money, but I don't know whether or not I will actually get a PowerMax! chassis.

You really think it could be that bad?  Usually if some company takes your money then the chances are very good that the merchandise will be delivered.  If not, if you paid with a credit card,  there are steps you can take to get a refund.

Well the term "PAID ADVANCE RESERVATION" isn't exactly a promise of delivery. If I was too late to get one from the current limited production run, it could be years till I get one... In which case, screw that.

Their website isn't exactly kept up-to-date. It's said "10 days" about something to do with the latest limited production run for a couple weeks now. And I've never heard of paying for a pre-order, if that is all I am guaranteed.

I ordered after that information was posted to the website. The previous information mentioned something to the extent of getting orders in before the production run.
To me, what had been written there read as if I had to make my "paid advance reservation" before the production run was made, if I was to be able to get one.

So what was wrong with the 0-6-0, how'd ya get it running?

I didn't know you needed a Hunslet type loco, those things are small even in 1:1 scale. I wouldn't even try that in Nn3.

BTW I have never got my 0-6-0 to run well, but I see videos so I know it can be done:

I'm curious too. IIRC, Cody said that the loco didn't run with power applied directly to the motor brushes.  :|

It's a different one. The one in the video is an older 3-pole version. My prized 5-pole version is still in the hands of @ChristianJDavis1

You're thinking of the small quarry hunslets used in Wales. The Irish had large Hunslet 2-6-2 tank engines.

And yes, I'm familiar with Mark's "Pizza" as well as "An Clar"   :D

OK, but even with that other one didn't he mention that the motor ran when power was applied to the motor directly, but had a spotty pickup elsewhere? I'm officially confused.

It's ok, @ChristianJDavis1 lives in a permanent state of confusion.

It is a blessing and a curse. I know the motor works, because I had it hooked up to a power supply and it was turning (not just turning, but running at operating speeds). That is withought using the track pickup (I cannot find my z scale track to do a proper test). When the current is applied to the wheels using unconventional methods, it starts and runs for a little, then loses connection and stops. I am not happy with it's performance yet, so it is still with me (I have some ideas I want to try out.
