I love the weeds David.  Beautifully done...

Well I have started work on the Kraft mill, for better or worse.  First step is to finalize the building layout and the content and construction of the backdrop.  These taped together buildings have been standing there for 5 years!  Hmmmm....not sure where to jump next as this is a big project.  I have been experimenting with LEDs in the backdrop and not certain what I will do here.  What is certain from the experiment is the model will need lots and lots of industrial lighting.  Have to think that through.

I got very little modeling done this week but I caught this amazing consist on the Indiana Northeastern RR mainline. Class 1 power is common to the line, typically just NS power, but today I was treated to a KCS SD70ACe with a GP7, GP10, and a GP30 trailing. This was taken outside Angola, IN.

Built a couple of NJ International plastic double track Cantilever bridges last evening...they'll go on the Ntrak Module I'm building to bring to the Lone Star Regional NMRA Convention in June...had to buy one 'silver' instead of two black one...they'll both get sprayed black after the signals are installed.

I seldom post here because I seldom have anything to post (ugh) but at least I finally created a blog to share my under-construction n scale WestRail Group - Salt River Division industrial line layout.

Just sharing the history and operations plan of my layout.  I'm laying track but it's a mess in there so I'm not very productive.  Nonetheless, I figure sharing here might motivate me.  haha  When I have time I'll post something in the Layout Engineering thread as well.

Forget the junction, check that interchange yard with the balloon loop, scrap dealer and what appears to be a preformed concrete or something mfg to the immediate south west  .

Mark W, I really like the terra-forming you did on the bridge module.  Much more realistic than the simple river trenches one tends to see.  It all looks very much like the "great American desert".

I promised I'd work on the Juniata Division today but with the prospect of half a foot of snow tomorrow I prepared for some winter running in the backyard!

I tightened up the track, replacing railjoiners, removing oxidation, and using every track screw I could get my hands on.  I also did a little more tamping and leveling (knowing that this isn't the final configuration).

Then I turned my attention to RGS #25.  She's ready for weathering. Her air tanks have been shortened to clear the steam chests on the replacement chassis, her whistle, bell, and pop valve have been painted brass, and she has a new coal load made of aquarium filter carbon.





For a matter of perspective, one of those small air tanks under the front running board is larger than an N scale PRR H-class 2-8-0.

With some paint and trim and real valve gear she looks as good as a real Spectrum Annie.

Um ok have you been holding out on us? When does that get published in Great Model Railroads?

Some great work this week.  RSW, that scene is fantastic, I love the look of that scene.  And the Beatton River bridge scene on the first page is really coming together nicely.

For my part, I managed to get some painting done and the final details on my main arch for the Cisco bridge.  Lots of tiny parts that don't add much to the large view, but look nice up close.  I've laid a base coat successfully on everything else and will move to paint the main arch next, and top coats of orange and weathered black. 

I also, for the first time, painted track.  In this case, the deck where I had to extend the ties of the ME bridge track.  It transforms the look- I can't believe I have not done this before...
