New kettle

Orenstein & Koppel loco by Tsugawa. Model is powered (no, no DCC and sound...unless you fix a boxcar behind it...), made of plastic with a white-metal boiler. Not everybody's cup of tea, but nice to see someone making some (very!) small steam, and of a kind of loco used across the world (a very few even made their way into the US, courtesy Koppel Car & Equipment).

Weren't they built in the US at Koppel, PA? Was there a plant overseas as well?

The Pa. plant was the "overseas" one-the company was from Prussia; Berlin area.
The US subsidiary apparently built rail cars, but not locomotives.

Koppel didn't build locos, but imported a few (How many? Don't know) 2' gauge locos into the US. There are pictures of the locos working in the US on Koppel catalogs. So much so that during and after WWI, when Koppel was first cut off from the mother company, then expropriated by the US Government, it had H.K. Porter build locomotives for them using the O&K patterns and designs (the City of Toronto was one customer). So, with a few detail changes - and an HKP plate slapped onto the tank - you could *just* justify this engine in the US...

Looks
much like the Kato Pocket Line trains.  Love my trams but the little steamer and centre cab always look interesting.  Dreams of a more modern Pacific Electric rolling around my head again...

If you are really interested in getting one I think Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/rail/) will (eventually) stock it.

No connection to HS, other than being a satisfied customer.
