Does this help:

The photo tuck back into the trees a bit

Along the lines of Dr. V: trim away the bottom edge of the photo to the row of bushes, then have the model crop end at the bushes, so you're not trying to colour match to the foreground crop.  You'll probably have to play with the details so the bushes show up (maybe just barely) over the model corn.

Chris I'd have to agree with Dave and Gary.
Make the change obvious and not blend.  If it could be done, have the 3D corn slope down as it nears the back drop.  This would give the illusion of depth and distance between the 3D corn and backdrop.

Then as they said trim the photo corn off the back drop and adjust the image if possible.  Then you won't need to blend the 3D with the image.

fwiw

i tried color matching
contrast lessening
brightness lessening
different amounts of blur
color enhancing
and sad to say none of those options helped for me

sorry, Chris, gave it a good shot
but nothing seems to look better than the grassy background
behind the corn
as if they are two different fields on the same farm

sincerely
Gary

It is done. I lowered the backdrop photo and glued it up. Also glued the corn down, photos when it dries.

Final answer

And I put the ice chest up on stilts

since the side window wasn't covered now I put a Grandt Line insert in it and painted it red.

Second coat of "water" down:

After all the talk about Mod Podge and Gloss medium I just used a bottle of WS I had laying around. I'll put Gloss medium ripples on top when done.

Painted up some poles:

Looks good.  I would be tempted to leave the water still like it is now.  It has that nice lazy mid-summer look to it.

What paint did you use for the insulators?

Tan and then Tamiya clear green. Trust me it takes a while, I haven't started the 6 arm poles yet.  :scared:

Chris, the river and insulators look spectacular.
