I feel you there.  I have more than one time sworn that $hit off.
I always remember to spray inverted and clean the nozzle, but if I get a second use out of a can of Rustoleum, it's a miracle.

Don't forget to paint the fascia boards on the roof your trim color as well. They generally weren't painted to match the shingles.  :)

Looks good Chris, except the Sonny's sign looks a bit like something from the 1970's.  Let's see what @C855B has to say.  :P

You said that while I was going off on poor Chris about how sucky the graphic arts business is as a profession. LOL

Yeah, that's a '70s typeface, or a derivative of one. Even the "AUTO SERVICE" sign over the garage looks like Verdana, which is a MSWindows font, so it's 1990's. But the "Sonny's" sort of reeks of the '70s - the '60s and '70s stylistic excesses did not skip typeface design. Good example is ITC Bottleneck.

Like I was advising Peter over in the "No New Modeling" thread, do a web search for "old sign fonts" or something like that. There are sites, some with dozens of typefaces, that will let you key in your text and produce samples that might be more suitable for the period.

Gosh... thinking about it, you can't even win with good ol' Helvetica... it didn't exist until 1957. Franklin Gothic is a good sans-serif sign face for anything in the first half of the 1900s, however.

Sonny was ahead of his time  :D

They are just what came with the kit. I'll look at the others to see if something better is available.

Well I did paint the fascias, but the sign is the best out of the 4 to pick from. It stays for now.

Digging the pano' shots from folks lately.

Chris, my only beef with the station is the slab under the ice storage box on the side- it would have been 6"-8" thick on top of cinder block foundation...

Am really liking this...I have one of these 'kits' still to be built. At first I pooh-pooh'ed these kits until building the small depot. Since then I've purchased a few more of the unbuilt kits...they're ridiculously cheap at MB Klein.
Yours turned out very nice and certainly fits the space and era!

Two observations about the truck reefer body.  First the concrete pad is mad thick and it seems it would be more fitting to use a wooden frame (with lots of weeds around the base) rather than concrete.  Something like this but without the end platform or steps - http://www.gclaser.com/n-scale-classic-metal-works-bulk-ice-platform/  Second, you need a home-made power connection running from the reefer unit to the lamp directly above.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

The only reason for the reefer body at all is to cover up a large window opening that I didn't like. That is why it is so tall. Guess I could have just slapped up a billboard

What about using porch lattice to surround the base instead of the concrete "block"?
