Heh, that's about as much ballast as I have the patience to install in one session, too.     I like the contrasting cinders, though.

This looks great and I really like the track enterance also.

How did you paint your track and what color?  It looks good as well.

Chris,

One suggestion: You're scenicking through the backdrop hole, but have you considered adding some light on the other side of the backdrop, so that the underpass doesn't look like the train is entering a black hole?

Mike, I airbrushed "railroad tie brown"

Enzo, If you mean the foreground freight station it is all scratchbuilt. The door are just corrugated styrene.

So I'm getting to installing windows in the Walthers kits. What do yall do for windows? To me real factory windows are rarely see-thru. I don't know what happens to them, but always look a chalky white color. Here is an old window at work:

How would I model this or factory windows in general?

Thought about a coved corner for that joint where the backdrops meet? Only because this is going to be a photogenic layout and the joint is noticeable then. Second the lit-up "back" of the viaduct, too. Smaus did that for his "Rathole District" layout.

Chris:

Here is an option for similar windows using a photo print.  Not translucent, but it does capture these kind of windows including the random patterns of what may be behind the windows.

I am loving your layout progress

Doug, how neat! You cut open the PRR box truck doors! Any trick to that?

Some translucent greenish Tamiya color and Dullcote?

Just ordered Tamiya X25.  Thinking Dullcote from the inside, thin coat of the green from the inside, then some of that frosty white window paint from the inside.
