No, keep it as it is! Leave 'em wondering.

(A tankful of "clean" I can sort of understand... "409", maybe?... but what's in that tank o' "heat"? Habanero sauce, maybe?) :D

When I used to visit my relatives in Jackson, MI (60-70s), I remember a local fuel distributor there with "OUR-TANKS-TO-YOU" painted on the four horizontal oil tanks that faced the road.  Haven't been able to locate a photo of it, yet.

I suspect you already know this, but "Clean Oil Heat" was a reference to folks thinking Oil was a cleaner burning fuel than coal.

Chris, The layout looks fantastic.

Plus the house didn't fill up with coal dust when they filled the tank with oil.  ;)

Superb scene, perfect location along the layout front. That's how I wish I could model. Glad the happy little accidents worked out, well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing, it's always great to see what you're up to.

QFT. This is what my layout wants to be when it grows up...  8)

Here is one for the Shapeways guys:

No longer made by Dyna Model.

BLW shows them on their "Captain Blaster" sale page.

This scene really is gorgeous.  Great job!

Modeling the L&N, well at least a few times a year.

Slowly painting up this gas station.

And added a sign in front of the freight station:

long ago in my Z scale days DKS made the artwork for me based off this:

I was etching my own brass back then so I made a frame for it:

It is still Z scale, but looks fine in this area next to the main street. The real sign was in Binghamton NY, but there was an identical sign in Youngstown where the word Binghamton replaces Youngstown.

lol  I found this photo from 1948:

No dino. The billboard is from the Microscale set. After messing with the dried up decals I realized the sign was too big. So I scanned it, re-sized, and printed on paper.

I thought they had a crude version that went back far enough, but I guess even those were from the 60's.  :|
