I think what's crazy is that you can buy the entire CN roster in one box for the low price of $2300. That's for the dc version, the dcc set is a sweet $3600. I guess if you are a diehard CN modeler you might just pony up the cash.

I'm on a phone right now... are those real n scale models or computer art? They sure look purdy.

The shots of the GMD1 models are pre-production N-scale.  Its also worth noting that there are several options to what you can get with the model, visiting the GMD1 webpage is highly recommended to learn about what the options are.

Its also worth noting as well that those interested in the N scale 10-5 sleeper & cafe-bar-lounge need to reserve their cars soon as the close of reservations is Valentine's Day, February 14th for you husbands and boy friends out there.  These are really nice models and it would be a shame to miss out if you model the streamline era.

I wonder if this could be used for the basis of an NW-5 kitbash? New shell & trucks maybe?

I'll probably get one regardless, but it seems like there is no B-B Flexicoil version?  :( I understand though, because such a low number of them were originally 4-axle.

Well the worst kept secret in N scale is out.... Yes; thise are N scale pre production models shown - we will (man I hope the new ones get here in time) have samples at Springfield in 2 weeks. The N scale wirkd also gets the more modern 1600 rebuilds (we're goin get hell from the HO crowd for that) and the model comes standard with an ESU DCC dual mode decoder and optional ESU LOksound version with authentic GMD-1 sound file. We will do the BB truck version on the second release !

In for a penny, in for a pound !

very cool...two on order.  Now I have to come up with some excuse to run them.  Oh, and tried to order a matching Pt. St. Charles Caboose to go with them but Prairie Shadows' site got stuck. :(

I'm in the same situation, I can't find much reason to run one, but I would love to have one.  I might just pull the trigger to have it sit in the yard and look good.

The entire near- to modern CN fleet is now available in n scale, just a few models to fill it out (GP40W, GP38W, porkchop GE units).  Who would have thought five years ago that would be the case?  There were basically none at that time.  Add to that the Pointe St. Charles van, a number of key freight cars (coal/sulphur gons, potash, box cars, gons, etc.) and things are looking pretty golden for those of us who like brooms propped up on our locomotives.
