Here what the base for the roundhouse looks like off the printer compared to the stock base.

With track installed and the inside bracing. I think I'll draw up new bracing and print them also. Then I'll will have enough parts for 6 add on bays that I could end up selling.

Did you had anything left after rebuilding it ,  like an IKEA project ?
Great works , you da man !

IKEA - LOL, that's funny!

Yeah, I had parts left over after I was through: all the components left over from the decoder and headlight conversion, snippets of wires which were installed too-long, and about half an ounce of lubricating oil!  :)

I got the Lewistown Station pretty much done and placed on the layout.

Since i have the week off, I decided to start working on the PRR station  in McVeytown. (which was about 8 miles west of Lewistown and torn down in the 70's).  The walls are up and the basic roof is on.  Its a start seeing you can only find photos of the front of the station.  I had to guess on the rear and east wall.

Thanks,

Scott

That's pretty cool, Scott! Lemo and I are working on the station in Gallitzin. We are having issues with conflicting information. I have a book that shows pictures of the station: says it is  type W103. The problem is that it looks NOTHING like the plans for the type W103 station. I think John took some liberties and counted the boards and batons and got the dimensions figured out as he put them in to CAD.

Thanks Josh!   I travel for work on a daily basis.  I get up around Altoona, Cresson, Gallitzin area at least once a week.  If I can ever be of any help let me know.  I always keep a 100' tape measure in my car if you needs dimensions.

I'm from Salix/Windber. I grew up in the area, but squandered it. Youth is wasted on the young (and I'm only 30!).
Sadly, the station in Gallitzin was torn down sometime before 1960.

Busy on the HO front.

Small abandoned water tower and pump house converted into an impromptu vacation spot.

My Feed and Grain building.  I have a small warehouse and out building that will go with this.  Currently molding and casting a bunch of details...boxes, bales of hay, sacks, etc.  Also will need a fence to keep livestock from escaping.

My yardmaster's office...the sign is temporary till I figure out a better use for the building...but I can dream of having the room for a yard  :D

All three with my trusty Ticonderoga #2 and new van.  I love N scale, but sometimes you need to grab hold of something bigger...or so I was told when I was dating. :D  All are scratchbuilt out of 1/32 ply with Grandt Line fittings and assorted color papers for tar and roof details.  Still need to add fussy bits.  Everything was painted using Testor's new weathering stains, Copec markers and some new Acrylic Paint pens from the art supply store. No airbrush was used except for painting the Grandt Line doors and windows.

Cheers
in my civvies here.  I only represent my grandmothers home made Mac and Cheese on Railwire.

Thanks to the Wife and kids and the wonders of the Amazon wishlist widget(put anything from anywhere on the net on your amazon wishlist) I got a new Bachmann 4-6-0, an MT RPO car, 4 DPM kits, and a nice trainworx trailer for my F89js. Jammed a few of the DPM kits together and dumped them on the old module for a look see.

The local sits on the siding while the new varnish rolls into town

Downtown is busy today

Barnaby Western, the hotel owner decided that he wanted one more set of rooms and built all the way to the edge of the railroad right of way. He was quoted as saying " I know it's loud, but the train isn't there all the time, is it?"

Hey Joe, how do you get off? Do you just jump off once you climb down the ladder?  But in a seriousness, those are some really nice looking buildings.

I got the front piece drawn for the roundhouse and they are printing on one of the 200mm printers.

I'm working on the inside bracing and will print them on the 300 printer next week. For the back I'm going to try to print them and then add brick overlay and see how well they turn out. If I don't like that I just shorten one of the kit wall and cast them.

Nice!  Remember when this type of a printer used to be called "Santa Claus Machine"?  :)  You can now have one (or few) at home.

What type of plastic do you use? ABS?

I also like the cluttered desk - makes me feel at home.

"Santa Claus Machine" is right. I use PLA. I tried using ABS twice but didn't like the way it printed and didn't want to spend the time to get it to work.

The cluttered desk is my 16 foot long bench in my home machine shop where I do all my 20.3 stuff.  I can clean it up and in 10 minutes it is a mess again. The desk in the basement is where I do the n-scale stuff and it is pretty clean at the moment.

Is PLA difficult to glue?  I don't think you can use solvent cements like you can for ABS.  Seems like PLA is more of a slippery plastic, to which glues do not adhere well.
