Arnold U25C Listed

Wig-Wag is listing road names and prices, but no expected dates for the units.  Price seems more in line with BLI as opposed to Kato or Atlas.  I am eager to see what these really look like and am interested in anywhere from 1-4 units depending on what you get for the price.

Is there a link? I don't see the announcement.
What are the road names?
Thanx

I know some heavy electric modelers who are eyeing these models for their trucks so that they can have something appropriate under their E33/EL-C and E44 Shapeways shells so I hope the damage isn't too bad... but to have the Arnold line being rejuvenated should help as well so overall I believe it is a good time for modelers in N-scale... all we really need now besides a New Haven EP3 is Atlas to get their track in... Is it just me, or is the price pretty steep for a loco without a decoder?

Hmm... have you priced
giant cocoa termites
lately...?

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I'm pretty sure it'll be a while yet, before these will hit the shelves.

For that price they'd better be VERY good, or Arnold won't find much of a market for their second model...

Ugh, four locos to purchase at once.  Where'd I put my piggy bank?

Agree.  A decoder-less diesel from Atlas or Kato would run in the $90-100 range street.  The Arnold list price doesn't seem way out of bounds, but if the actually selling price is correct, then it's going to be $40-50 more expensive than the current market.  I can't believe these folks haven't done any market research; they must know what the current market prices are for higher-end N-scale diesel offerings.  So it's a bit puzzling.

Fortunately, the NKP didn't have any of these, so my bank account will be spared.  But I hope the pricing doesn't cause this experiment to fail - the hobby can always use another high-quality producer, and there's still a lot of transition-era stuff out there to be done (FM H10-44; H12-44; Baldwin AS16 and 616; etc.).

I wonder how long the wait will be and what the actual price will be.  I know that I would like one or two or three!

How much of this is a real reflection of the price, and how much is it just the one vendor we are all seeing in this post?  Looking over their pricing, the discount is in line with the discounts on other locomotives by  other brands.  That would suggest to me that we MAY See different pricing when other vendors pick up th eloco listing.

That could also suggest some backwards math.  Wig-Wag has a 'retail' price of $29.99 for the TLT Mini-Box even thought the TLT site says $27.50.  I know that these cars are a very short discount so the retail price might be getting inflated to make you think you're getting 20%.

Not saying this is what's happening, but I not saying it's not.  I'd wait to see what the official price is from Arnold.

Jason:  Not a bad idea, especially since currency exchange rates will almost certainly have an effect on the final price.  Even if Arnold HAD a $US price today, it may not be the same months from now when they receive the order from the manufacturer.  I assume they're not being made in the US...

US? Isn't Arnold based in Canada?  :?  Or am I thinking of Rapido?  I'm confused.   There was a time where Arnold Rapido was the same company.  :D

Rapido is in Canada.

Neither the new Arnold or Rapido share any lineage to the old Arnold Rapido other than name (I guess Bmann did buy the old Arnold but eh....)
