The world *neeeeeeds* more N scale bridges of British Columbia prototypes! md
Beautiful station, but it doesn't looks ADA compliant. I can here the law suits coming now !
A few days ago the Executive Director, lead curator and I were having a lively discussion about their respective to-do lists. On the curator's list was "restoring" (actually, mostly repainting) the ex-BN caboose we have in our parking lot (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3014269), as the paint is getting pretty streaked and faded. I mentioned how difficult it was to get a reliable match for BN green. "Yeah. We talked to BNSF a couple of years ago and they won't help us. Anyway, just any green will be fine, nobody would know the difference," was her reply.I protested, "Eleanor, rail nuts really pay attention to stuff like that. I would not be able to live it down if any of my train friends knew that I let that caboose be painted the wrong color!" "I guess," she replied, "but what about the other color? It's sort of a cream, I think." "Cream? I don't know of any cream color, " was my response, "What do you mean? The dirty white lettering?" "Oh, I dunno," she said. So I duck out to the parking lot, take a glance, do a , stick my head back in the door, "Hey, Eleanor! That's supposed to be yellow! A bright yellow!" Yes, the ends are faded that badly.
If you're trying to source replacement paint from a manufacturer, don't be afraid to just go right out and ask for Burlington Northern Green. We at the CRHS had a hell of a time trying to find a match for Conrail blue using hex codes and such, until a bright woman at PPG paint simply asked us what the name of the color was. Never would have thought it, but they had a match for "Conrail blue".
I now have a train that is fully converted (all engines and all cars) to the body-mounted, Z-scale Bowser/Lee English couplers:
There will be photos and a video is in the works (will wrap up filming today), but here's a teaser of member Rick Brodzinsky's fab new Silicon Valley CalTrains station:Great, now ALL our modules are going to have to have lights on them Off to Day Two!Video should be shot & edited by tonight or tomorrow.
Sure it is. There is a wheelchair ramp wrapped around the tree on the right side of the station.
Here's a foobie on the Atlas double sheathed box car. Clover House dry transfers set on decal film and applied. Kind of neat.
Who did you contact at PPG? I work for PPG and we supply the paint for Progress Rail (EMD). I'll do a little poking around to find the code for BN green.Scott
