Trains News Wire FLASH: 'Suspicious device' found on Alabama railcar, schools evacuated

Published: November 21, 2013


DECATUR, Ala. – A "suspicious device" has been found on a railcar in Decatur, forcing the evacuation of nearby residents and the closing of more than a dozen schools. The car is at a factory on the west side of Decatur near Alabama Hwy. 20.

 Local news outlets report that local police and fire, Huntsville bomb squad, and FBI officials are on the scene.

 CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern both serve Decatur.

Police checked the package and it contained marijuana.  Car originated in Mexico.
