Code 55 Atlas

Any good rumors about Atlas C55 track? I see my distributor is out of flex and all switches. Anybody know anything about when we may see any? I know the hobby shops are not getting any.

I know Paul and Cory sweep through here every once in awhile.  Can you guys wake up the person responsible for updating the track delivery page please...thank you... :)

Thanks for that link Brian.

I see Code 55 flex is expected in AUGUST, Not sure when now. The distributors dont have it in stock, so I know the hobby shops dont.

I'm pretty certain that Atlas has discontinued the Code 55 line of track, so that it can focus on developing a line of Code 40 products.

I wish I thought this was funny.
Extrapolating recent deliveries, however, one could believe it's true.

Trainboard had an über-thead on this topic a few weeks ago which included this post from Paul at Atlas.  The bottom line is "soon."  I'm sure no one is happy about this situation.

I plan to expand the Juniata Division soon, and I would prefer to do it with Atlas code 55.  If the time comes and I'm ready to go with no Atlas 55, well then..  I'll have to go another route.

Maybe unrelated, but I was prowling around web stores today looking for some code 80 turnouts. Even though the Atlas site has them pegged for September/October availability, one online retailer had posted its restock date as April 2014. I don't know if that guy knows something we don't, but if it's accurate we may all be SOL until spring.

Here is a perfect opportunity to hold off on track laying and instead weather or tune-up the rolling stock. Or scenic some offline areas, or build or weather some structures.

Can't I just whine about the evil of overseas production and the ineptitude of companies like Atlas? Seems to be the first resort for a lot of folks.  :D

(Not referring to anything said in this thread, BTW.)

DaveFoxx:  I wish you were serious, at least about developing a code 40 line.  Some decent ready-to-lay C40 turnouts would be a very nice match for ME's track, even if Atlas didn't make their own flex to go with them.

Have you actually used ME code 40 track lately?  The new stuff, done from the new molds...not the old Railcraft molds, won't run Kato or Atlas flanges.  They do more than "buzz".  My Kato F's and Atlas Geeps don't exactly have "pizza cutter" flanges, but they won't run on ME 40 flex.

I discovered this when using a new batch of it for my Emory Center Siding, so I carefully sanded the spikeheads down on the insides of the rails and now my F's and Geeps run on the center siding.  I haven't got my Big Boys or Challengers over there yet (still working on the three west end turnout Tortoise linkages), but the next code 40 I put down will be totally hand-laid just like my Park City Yard and branchline, which runs everything just fine.

Just thought those considering using it should know this fact.
