Anybody remember "Littl' Puddy" ?

In 2006 a few of us that haunted the now defunct "Scalerailsonline.com" website got a goofy idea... we sent one of my custom painted 50' double door boxcars nicknamed "Littl' Puddy" around the world.... literally....

Jason Shron here at Rapido convinced me to do a Rapido blog entry about the voyage (best I could remember it anyway, hey that was a long time ago....)

Here's the link for those of you interested..... That sure was a lot of fun !

Indeed it was.  I came here on the tail end of that run.

Makes we think we should do it again . . . :o

Funny how the simple omission of the letter "t" can change a post so much.

Yeah
I remember

Lee brought it up here on a swing to the West Coast.
First we hit my place, then we boogied over to see the old Canandaigua Southern, then we ended up at Howard's.

Visual Evidence is always required, enjoy.

Here it is delivering parts to the local Caterpillar Dealership

Small meets Bigger at the old Armstrong layout

Perhaps we should do a Railwire car with the objective of it visiting every :ashat: who chooses to host the car, whether they have a layout or not.

It should be painted a single color with plain white reporting marks of TRWX and its number should be 0.

Upon completion of its journey, it could be raffled off to an  :ashat:
But such a raffle should be done at a CRHS Rail-B-Q so that there can be witnesses as to the fairness of said raffle.

I have an MT 50' boxcar (the only one that I own) and all it needs is to be stripped of its paint, repainted, and trucks put on.

As for how to go about lettering the beast, that is for the masses to decide.
If I were to do it, it would probably cut up some random decals I have and make a Frankenstein's Decal.
Or I'd see if anyone I know has any spare dry-transfers.

There's pictures out there of L'il Puddy on my Tropicana Juice Train with Ed's Conrail locomotives on the point that we ran on the BANTRAK layout at the B&O Railroad Museum in 2009 or so.  Good Times.

I remember well.  My layout wasn't very far along back then (like it is now ).
I can't remember the "story" I posted, just that it involved beer  :D

Mike,

Love the Rapido blog on Lil' Puddy, but I wanted to point out a mistake.  While she did ride on the "Dusty Junction and Northwestern" (pictures included above) the pictures that you are attributing to my layout I believe are actually of Robert's (RWCjr) layout.  As much as I'd love to have his layout, I believe credit should be given where credit is due.

Thanks,
David

I remember it well.

On your blog, the photo with two GN SD9s leading looks to me like it was taken on the Bellingham-Seattle portion of Steve Stark's layout; don't think that photo was taken on Brian Morgan's layout.

Quite possible Tim; middle age and the fact that few people actually identified their photo's, rather just posted them by file number makes "positive identification" a challenge...... I'll see if I can get that changed too....

So should we add "old and forgetful" to your list of qualifications, Mr. Rapido Guy?
