It's more than made up for by the presence of only 3 Cheesie units, and good and proper WM trains operating on the Salisbury Viaduct, free and in their natural habitat!  Vive Le Wild Mary!

The layout was started in February 2003 and was "completed" in 2011. The visible part of the layout is 30 x 27 feet. Represented are equal parts of the east and west slopes of sandpatch grade circa the early 1990's. The ex Western Maryland Connelisville extension is also present. In the csx era, part of this remains to serve the blue lick mine loadout. For fun, sometimes WM trains from 1970 are run. A large 18 track staging yard serves both ends of this 22 mile segment of railroad.a continuous run is an option at the yard entrance. The era modeled is interesting due to the many predecessor paint schemes seen on the engines. Ted painted many of these engines along with a number of the csx units. Operation interest is the regular line up of mainline trains along with coal, grain, and W&LE traffic. Helpers are used on tonnage trains. Locals from the blue lick and Salisbury branches move coal.

A little OT but when I saw his layout a few years ago, Ted had mentioned a friend of his was building a West End layout centering on Terra Alta (I think). Do you know if that's still in the works?

How did I miss that thread? Love it! Looking at the Nov tour schedule I now see I need to add yours to my list. Never knew there were so many great n scale layouts right down the road.

After Nov if I don't have the motivation to fishing the layout room, so I can get to work, I'll just have to burn my wallet and give up my TRW account...and maybe give up bacon too...

Visted the layout as part of the Nov Open House. Dam that is some fine work. True railfanning layout. Quick video from a few shots I grabbed.

Nice job with the pictures Chris.  I love this layout, just seeing the W&LE trains reminds me of seeing them come into Hagerstown.
