Did lots of street work last night thanks to my friend Steve.

We cleaned the existing ones (there was scenery detritus) and then hit them with a new coat of paint.

Then we dusted them with some unsanded grout (used for its pigment content).

I'm pretty happy with the progress, but more refinement is coming.

@CodyO is swinging by today and I'm going to put him to work painting sidewalks and fascia.

It's coming together!

Oh, also, other recent progress...

Got my "York Jail" backdrop done. It's a signature building in the area, and while it's not very obvious, it's important for setting the scene.

Amazing how much modeling can be accomplished when there's a deadline, innit?

Looking forward to seeing in person for the first and "last" time.

I can understand forward progress on structures even when the layout is doomed...structures can be recycled.  But why the effort for actual fascia when it can't be recycled?  Why not just paint the layout edge and call it good for the purposes of a single ops session?

There must be some relief knowing that even if it doesn't come out great, it won't be there long!..But the results look great, especially now that the roads have been cleaned up. Mini Metals and motor sound time!

Those are some wide streets!  They appear to be side-streets and not main-streets... Are side-streets in York that wide?

Generally, yes. Think about it, two way streets usually have parking on both sides and then the lanes themselves. Modelers generally make most scenery stuff too small.
