Double points for Pullman car attire or a tux.

Does it require proof that you don't live in your mother's basement?

Here we go, ready for a mini-ops session when Ben (who some of the DMV crew knows) comes over on Saturday.

From the steps

I can't wait until I replace this with the MVC app I'm writing

The backdrop is FPO at this point. It's not so bad in person.

Yep, Ben and Karri are coming down tomorrow to hang out (Terri and Karri are doing, well, I have no idea, but Ben and I are working on some projects).

And, the app. I've been wanting to teach myself ASP.NET MVC for a while now. Most of what we do at work is Webforms, so I don't get much of a chance to play with it. I figured that building something to manage car routing on the layout would be a good project to play with.

I've got it up here on Github: https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst

I don't like the "Dungeons and Dragons" aspect of most car forwarding systems, so I'm building this to better replicate actual service designed car movements.

Working from the yard out, cars (https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst/blob/exploring/WindsorSt/Models/Car.cs) are at layout locations (https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst/blob/exploring/WindsorSt/Models/LayoutLocation.cs). They get built into blocks (https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst/blob/exploring/WindsorSt/Models/Block.cs) which either go to off-layout destinations (https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst/blob/exploring/WindsorSt/Models/OfflayoutDestination.cs) or serve industries (https://github.com/ekapus/windsorst/blob/exploring/WindsorSt/Models/Industry.cs).

There's still lots to do on it, so it's really not functional at all yet, but there it is.

It still blows my mind a little how perfectly that fit in your basement.

Do you use a helix to connect to the foam to the right?

Doesn't JMRI already do this? Theirs is based off of demand, and car type as well as routing. Not simply, next, then this, then this, and then there.

I personally find the JMRI operations module way too complex and its setup backwards,

Started doing some preps for a small ops session (ie, classifying two inbound cuts of cars).

I really need to get the layout management app running, cause doing it all this way sucks.

Well, the facilities folks showed up at Windsor St. last night and got to work redeveloping the old engine terminal.

I taped up the gaps between the various pieces and painted it all flat black.

I think I've also generally worked out the yard track layout, now just to figure out the flex-flow terminal.
