I just got my two 4-4-0s back from having dcc decoders installed. I had printed this topic so the guy could see the diagrams, etc.
When I picked them up, he said the one from Micro-trains set was not like the one from Model Power that I had purchased sometime ago.
He got both decoders added, but Micro-trains version was more delicate work. What he told me was that the wiring shown in this post did not match that in the locomotive from the Micro-trains set.

I believe that picture was actually of a Pacific tender, but they're all pretty much the same deal as far as the wiring goes.

Here is the MT tender -

Incidentally, this new version is definitely an upgrade over the original. The one I tested pulled about twenty 40' freight cars on level track and ran very smoothly. Ajin QC is still all over the map though, as I had to buy two of them before I got a good one. The first one had a broken coupler and ran like crap.

Mark, thanks for your reply and photo. I checked the photo and found it was one you posted which looks different that the one you added today.
I added my comment because I thought I was providing the installer accurate information; he figured it out and did a successful install.
I feel a bit embarrassed for provide incorrect information to him.

The Micro-trains set version is very nice. I had a heavy weight passenger train on the mainline when I first tried my locomotives, and the
one from the MTL set handled 3 FVM wagon top box cars and 8 MTL heavy weights with ease. I used the locomotive to move the cars back to the yard.
