I'll post a picture later tonight or tomorrow morning. Had to work yesterday and today. Just got home and need to relax a bit.

In the process, I will check the drive gear because I am pretty sure the Pacific driver is a drop in (or at least as much of a drop in as possible with MP's pickup wiring scheme.)

It is.
I refitted mine with it years ago.

Some quick snaps of the updates. The tender wipers are folded in a U and extend through the tender floor where wires are soldered to them.

What I am understanding, then, is that the MT/MP ATSF eight wheeler and caboose as well as the B&O eight wheeler, hoppers and caboose has this update.  Is that correct?  Thanks.

I can only comment on the loco that comes in the B&O weathered set as that is what I own but I believe all of the 4-4-0's that MTL has used have this upgrade. This includes the Big Top 4-4-0 but I don't have one to check for sure.

We requested the traction tire version and I assume our order for them was enough for upgrades.  I have two of them I am converting them to similar SP units...I like them.

I wonder if these are still made by Ajin of Korea, or if they found another manufacturer.

Joe, do you know if all of the Model Power 4-4-0's sold by Micro-Trains have these upgrades? Or if not all, do you know which ones do? Also, to echo Peteski's query, do you know if these were made by Ajin?

Thanks,
-Mark

We got them in one big order so they would all be the same.  I want to say they came from Ajin, but not sure.  I can check.  Model Power took care of the logistics.  I have cases and cases of the MP Pacific with the Vandy tender in the office right now, and have been impressed with the operations of the ones I tested.  Nice model all around.

Thanks, Joe. Do the Pacifics have the revised tender pickup as well?

The MP 4-6-2 traction tire set will work with the 4-4-0 by pulling the drivers off the axles and swapping them that way. I have done it.

That is what I said on the 1st page of this thread, but Tony said that the 4-6-2 TT-equipped axle was a drop-fit into 4-4-0.   I would have to dig out that loco and all the parts to be sure. I did the conversion couple of years ago and I also distinctly remember having to swap the drivers on the axles (because of the difference in the size of the gear).

Joe, If you need to get rid of some of those pacifics, I can 'store' them for you at my house. I need more SP pacifics with a vandy tender... :ashat:

I too said it was a drop-in, but I'm not an :ashat: so why'd I bother?
Anyway, to confirm I just dug out the original driver and my spare MP pacific traction driver.
(note-I've never owned the pacific, so no mix-ups here)
They match, and the gears on the two drivers mesh just fine.
