My big thing this weekend was giving my H10 (hardwired the decoder on Saturday night) a good stretch of its side-rods.
I also converted my 12 Atlas ultralight woodside reefers from Crapumates to MT trucks (with truck mounted couplers and deep flange wheels).
I also just finally got around to testing my Badger airbrush (the cheap blue plastic kind that has no adjustments what-so-ever) and found that I wasted $15 on it, and another $9 on the can of propel since it has no use since the airbrush is a turd. In short I will not be painting anything for a very long time (probably about two or three more years) unless it is very tiny so that I can use an actual brush, or is just a weathering job.

Anyone else notice Mike is wearing a CN shirt...more proof he is moving towards the ways of the wet noodle.  Even if he claims on facebook its a "company shirt" I still think its his true modeling passion.

Heh, first thing I noticed was the CN. Muhahah...

In other news. I managed to crank out a few more items this week:

The BQ23-7 is nearly complete - I just need to do the two vertical handrails on the cab front, then paint.  Decals are making their way from MBK for the Family Lines version - I am still debating the idea of an SBD paint out.

I also began rehabbing this tank car (bought for a dollar at Timonium sans trucks, couplers, or much of anything else)

I like the Gold Metal Models kit, but I bod mounted the couplers as stand ins for Gary & Ed's fine boxes, and is I take off the plastic decking on each end to add the etched walkways, then I'll have to figure out a non-screw mounting method.

I also welcomed a couple of new additions to the fleet:

And I got Elkins/Baton Rouge finally secured in it's permanent resting place.  This means I have a trackwork challenge connecting to the existing "mainline":

There's a joint to the top left of the photo where that bit of flex track comes off - so I am thinking about removing it and then either getting a curved turnout, or doing something else.  The wall corner is fixed - there's a bathroom on the other side.  And I need a HCD cut-off the make a pretty rounded corner filler.

Nice, Bob!  I may be in for a few if I can match the paint.

The good news is that roofs fade so an exact match isn't as critical.

:ashat:  Or do the SENSIBLE thing and get an IC/ICG/IC/CN shirt so you are paying homage to a REAL Railroad.

I grabbed some fascia on Sunday to mount on the layout.  I don't have any pictures but it wouldn't fit in my car from the home supply store so I had to call in my brother in law and his truck.

Saturday I was working on the railroad, just not the model one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ni1qIWN0jw  I was working as a Fireman on that train at the Omaha Zoo, I think that particular video was made on a run while I was taking a lunch break as I am not in the cab.

Philip,

I believe that it's going to take more than just cutting back to that rail joint.  You're looking at a main line realignment to get around that corner without going to a radius that is likely below your mainline minimum.  Recalling Elkins' track layout when it was at Lee's, I cannot imagine that the connection will not end up being used as the yard lead.  Can you provide a wider angle photo, so more suggestions can be made?

you mean you can't make do with a ridiculous green NOAA ruler?   8)

I'll try to get another pic tonight.  Problem is the way I had it set up before (with a two track fiddle yard) the industrial leads also come in above that code 80 track joint.  So Iguess I'm trying to avoid tearing the whole bloody thing out since the rest of the track fits my givens and druthers.

NOAA gives out rulers with inches...

That is a tight corner, literally.  You might be able to sneak a connection in there but it probably will be tighter than your mainline standard.

What are the options in terms of the wall?  Seriously.
