Regarding UP 1518 and having a possibly modern scheme, it looks like the answer is "sort of".

According to this photo timeline of the unit, it spent about 1 year in this scheme in 1987....

Nothing for me this round.  Got to wait for a PC and Reading unit.  Least it gives my wallet a rest.

MT has confirmed that there will be just the one light. DCC-Readiness is apparently still up in the air.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info Mark. Guys, could we pretty please not rehash all the angst about the light and DCC? Maybe contact MTL directly with legitimate concerns? Just a thought to try something different.  :)

Best wishes, Dave

Single road numbers? Single headlights? Non-DCC ready?

Seriously, what is this, 1990?

(But good call on the CR paint scheme, I'm in if they are DCC ready)

No that's not accurate regarding the DCC status.  Joe has said that they are working through an engineering process to see what options they have for DCC, including Plug N Play.  MTL has not yet reached a conclusion what the status is because the R&D isn't done yet.  As Dave points out, we need to give them the space to do that R&D work instead of ASSUMING that no specific DCC status announcement means No DCC, which we then bash them for.  Frankly, if they get an accurate shell, I'll do the rest.  As can you my friend.

That would be like saying that you have switched to modeling NS since you haven't posted a Conrail pic in X number of months.  The legal terms would be Hearsay and Facts Not In Evidence.

Right - what has yet to be determined is whether or not anyone's actually going to be able to make a PNP decoder that will fit in it. One would presume that at this point it's at least "DCC Friendly" (IE, isolated motor and room enough for a decoder).
