No new tooling from Athearn at this time. They have some things on the horizon but not now. Shane was up front about it. We'll just have to be patie nt. They do have alot  of plans with existing tooling so

Honestly, this doesn't bother me at all - the tank cars and some of the recent hoppers are some of the best models ever, it would be great to see them back in production.

And where the F did they get that UP road number? Are we back to producing toys again? 

Looks like it was an easy new body to put on the S-4 mechanism, simply ignoring that the NW2 is already done. The PDF Michael linked to said "August" for the S-4.

Atlas RS-3 for NKP in 3rd Q 

Bachman NW2 in PRR (DCC) for $139 should be interesting... I look forward to buying 1 and comparing it to the Kato release.  I am hopeful Bachman has turned a corner.

Broadway Limited PA-1 in NKP in 3rd Q.... please let them reference the previously released #'s from Lifelike.  there were only 10 in existence in the NKP.  PLEASE let them get it right and save me the pain int he a$$ of renumbering letterboard to feed my compulsiveness.  Oh, by the way.... this is a WAY COOL announcement.   

MTL's SW1500's... Heaven help me if the road name release includes NKP...  Mr. Wallet might need back up.  Then again... undec would be OK as well

At least Bachmann is throwing in some USRA 55 tonners, that I'll take. The new tooling for the F7 sounds interesting, maybe these will be on par with Kato and Intermountain. Why the heck would they produce a NW2?! Of all the things they pick something already produced!

Yeah, that's a headscratcher.  But hey, they own their own factory and apparently have cycles to kill now so why not?   I think an SW1 would have been a much better decision, personally. (Mostly because I need one.  )

The NW-2 is puzzling, but it looks like better quality then we've seen before.  Of the HO stuff, if they did the coffee pot restaurant in N I'd buy one just because.

The On30 Gas Mechanical looks interesting - and could be the start of a great new foray into sugar cane railroading I keep contemplating.

It might just be that companies are sitting on ideas until the China thing finishes shaking out and the economy picks up steam.

Thank the lord I scorched my credit cards and overspent from 91-2005. At least I have stuff to run, now if I could just get some rail joiners from Atlas.

USRA 55 tonners were classified GLd, since back in the day the PRR thought of these small hoppers as gondolas. The PRR got 300 of these from their subsidiary, the LIRR, and they lasted into the 50s. H31s were produced during WWII and were USRA clones, but receiving a hopper classification. The PRR built around 1200 of these. So the 55 toners were rare in terms of the PRR, but many other roads had thousands upon thousands, so these models are a welcomed addition to steam and transition era modelers. Hopefully Bachmann will tool these closer than MTL, which is closer to the H31 clone. The Atlas 55 tonner is also closer to USRA clones rather than the original design. I would like to see the PRR CK scheme, B&O, and CNJ on these babies.

Did I mention that the entirety of my prototype knowledge can be printed a single 3"x5" file card in probably size 11 or 10 font?
I'm still on the lookout for some Bowser GLa hoppers in PRR.
