I was thinking how N scale has finally matured.

What I mean is--- with a few exceptions, many/most of the major locomotives have been done.

We are now getting to a point when more minor locomotives are being done.
How much longer before someone announces an AS616?

Besides Baldwins, I think FM diesels, switchers especially, are lacking too.

In addition to the Baldwins already mentioned, here are a few diesels that could be on someone's list:

FM H10/H12-44 switchers (last produced by Trix in the early 1970's)
Alco RSD12 (last produced by Atlas/Kato in late 1980's)
Alco RS18 (never produced)
Alco RS36 (never produced)

Plus, I'd note that the "old" Rivarossi was famous for many N scale steamers that were excellent for their day (though would be outdated today).  Here are some steamers that I think there would be a market for and are not currently being made or in someone's plans: an updated 2-8-4 Berkshire; 2-10-4 (C&O, Santa Fe, PRR all had many; at least 7 other Class 1's had a few); a good running light Mikado (unless Model Power really does fix theirs); 4-6-4 Hudson; PRR K-4 (actually, pretty much anything Pennsy); an Allegheny; a Yellowstone.

I hope Hornby is successful; we could use another player in the N scale market, and they've already shown considerable sense by employing Charlie Vlk, who knows the business and has his pulse on the hobby.

The DS-4-4-1000 (1948 version) had more road names and more units produced than the AS616 and either FM switcher.

So did it's successor, the S-12.

I'd like to see GP50s, Phase II GP39-2s, late phase SD9s.  I'll also add to the U30B group.

I'd like Atlas to do a late phase GP38-2, like the Walther's/Life-Like one.

But mostly the GP50s and GP39-2s.  The SD9 is an easy kitbash.
