This has not been given much airplay as far as I can tell but, in case you didn't know, the first batch of 28' parcels are in-stock in some locations.

So is it *just* the last series of p/n's?   One site only shows the "2003+" trailers as being in stock. (naturally, I have the other two versions on order.  )    Anyway, glad to see them hitting the streets, the 40's were very nice and I think these will be too.   8)

Chuck sent mine out last week.  I'm not at home, never am, but I imagine that by now they're waiting for me.  Definitely looking forward to them.

Now I just gotta get a fellow a$$hat here to print up some appropriate UPS decals for our own internal use.

Once
pups are firmly in hand, there will be a flurry of decal printing and Alan Curtis flatcar assembly...

I thought this was old news.  I got mine about 2 weeks ago from BLW. Still waiting for the other batches.  Yes, gold and brown decals will have to be printed.

Who's making the pups? And how hard would I have to beg to be added to the long list of people who want UPS decals?

Trainworx http://www.train-worx.com/28parcel.htm . Both BLW and M.B. Klein's (and many other retailers) have them in stock.
As far as decals go, that is contraband!  That is why no decal companies (or even Trainworx) has these available. UPS is really strict about their logos.

You mean like these...  :D  Very easy to make at home with some decal paper, an inkjet printer, and a logo from the internet.  Just don't sell them and you'll be fine.  I think Athearn and NORSCOT might be the only companies that are licensed to sell UPS trailers/trucks with the logo's.

This one took me about 15 minutes (minus the drying time for the decal) to create.  The trailer is last years 40' version from Trainworx.

What is the earliest date for the drop-frame vans and the pup vans?  I'm partial to the 1961-2002 logos.

Note that Trainworx announced three versions of the pups, and only one has shipped.  Of course I pre-ordered the other two versions!

Circa 1975 for the drop frames.  Not sure about the pups, but I think quite a bit later, '80s sometime.    Found a picture of one from '87.   The DOT striping versions that have been shipped would be more like late 90s.

I would be interested in seeing the 1987 pic.  I know the Pups are too new for my era, but I have a handful of the 40-footers and would like to add period-appropriate markings if they were present.

What I also like is my Arrowhead/Randy Brown resin pups still look pretty good next to these. While the RB ones are a bit wider, the side profiles are very similar looking.

Pretty sure drop frame pups go back to the late 70s.  I recall a guy in the BSME bashed a bunch of them out of Athearn trailers in HO.  That would have been 79-81 ish.

Conspicuity stripes were required on new trailers manufactured after December 1, 1993.  Older trailers (manufactured before December 1, 1993) had to be retro-fitted with the stripes by June 1, 2001.  UPS was in no hurry to add the stripes, so you will find few of these trailers with the stripes in the 1990s.

According to the Intermodal Modelers Guide, the first 28-foot drop-frame pups appeared in 1983, and more were added to the fleet through 1990.  The 26-foot 6-inch pups date back to 1964, but they are not all that similar in appearance to the Trainworx trailers.  However, the Phase II 26'-6" pups from 1972-79 look more like the 28-foot trailers.

Edit:  To answer the rest of Bryan's question, the 40-foot drop-frame trailers were built from the mid 1960s to early 1970s.
